If you see the sunset, does it have to mean something? If you hear the birds singing does it have to have a message?” Robert Wilson

Saturday Sunset, Part Two

An ordinary Saturday
On a December’s eve
Stepping into a sleigh
For a ride to leave
On a track
To watch the sunset
The colours a reminder
Of the season’s binder

“I envy people who can just look at a sunset. I wonder how you can shoot it. There is nothing more grotesque to me than a vacation” Dustin Hoffman

Saturday Sunset, Part One

“The sky is on fire, the sky is on fire!”

The peasant from the ancient times shouted
As the red clouds into the skies sprouted
Running as fast as he could
Before the skies on him fall would

Simply out of fear
Not knowing of the beauty so near
Shivering in his cellar
Like an old yellar

Some hundreds years later
Not a sunset hater
Eagerly awaiting
A sunset most breathtaking

“Red is the ultimate cure for sadness” Bill Blass

Red

Red is my colour
Try not to follow
Red is my attitude
No intended platitude
Watch me bloom
As my nom de plume
Is Red

“We live in a strange bubble” Brian Molko

Life in Bubble

Living in a bubble
Peeking through Hubble
Getting into trouble
Always on the double
Trying to snuggle
Always a struggle
For the couple
After all,
Living in a bubble
Usually decouples

Caturday, 2015-12-12

“Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea” Robert A. Heinlein

Caturday, 2015-12-12

“I keep my cat
In my handbag”

Said the old hag
And, with a snag
Lighting a fag

“It’s not a gag,
so just cut me some slack”

She quickly snapped
As she zigzagged
A price tag
Like a yellow flag
Flashing on her ragtag
And out of fashion coat
Stepping into a boat
Flinging in her large tote
The cat sprung out
And onto the float
In a few quick strokes
She rowed across the moat

Freedom (Writing 101, A Poem A Day)

Writing 101, A Poem A Day: Day 5: Freedom
Poetry & Photography

Freedom is a fundamental need. It is so powerful that nations go to war for it. People engage in both despicable and heroic deeds to gain it. In the name of freedom we suffer, make sacrifices, and attempt to perform miracles. For freedom we are willing to lose everything and risk our lives, since no life really is one without freedom.

What freedom means is open to interpretation, which is why it’s been a recurring subject in art. In today’s poem, share your take on freedom. While you’re at it, be fearless with your thoughts. Don’t hold back. Unleash your emotions and be honest with yourself. Uncensored writing coming from the heart often produces the most amazing read.

“Life, Love, Liberty”

Freedom

Freedom is to be who you are without being ashamed
Freedom is to love someone without being blamed
Freedom is to walk home in the dark without being raped
Freedom is to say your thoughts out loud without being hated
Freedom is to choose whether you turn left or right
Freedom is to surrender without a fight

Freedom is,
To be who you are
Where you are
When you are
Let no one
Tell you differently
