“Even the gods love jokes” Plato

Laughing My Ass Off

I heard a few jokes
Then I broke
Hard in laughter
Listening to them rants
Almost peeing my pants
I fell on the floor
Tears on the pour
Laughing so hard
Out loud without guard
My ass falling off
Starting to cough
Getting more hysterical
Surely a big error of clerical
Cracking up completely
It wasn’t discreetly
Ultimately dying
From shear laughter
Couldn’t be more dafter
Not worth the crying
It was a good ride
And well worth the while
Now here I am
Tweeting
From top of the cloud
A greeting
And still laughing
Out loud

Glass Half Full or Half Empty (Repost for TBT)

“If we talk about the glass being half empty or half full, I want to know what does the glass look like from underneath the table?” Brad Thor

Glass Half Full or Half Empty

If you are a pessimist
It is not a pop quiz
Rather a simple truth
You don’t need to be a sleuth
The glass always half empty
Even if drinking plenty
Of Chablis
Oh what a bliss

Being an optimist
No need for an alchemist
The resources plentiful
And the glass always being
At least half full
Even without seeing
Somehow filling
With liquid most thrilling

Mind the realist
The idealist
Always the party animal
Nothing ever minimal
Fun, life or liquid
And will not quit
When served fast
A free glass

What you really need to know
Without a doubt or a show
Is that the secret
To never forget
To say, yes please
Because very easy
Not missing a syllable
The glass is refillable

Ode to my Wellingtons

You beautiful lovelies
My sweet red Wellingtons
Luckily I wasn’t swayed
By those tempting sandals
I would have been betrayed
When the rain came pouring down
Hopeless without my crown
Puddles all over the ground
No safe harbour to be found
Taking a small step
Anticipating the get wet
But to my surprise
You saved my life!

Welcome To Finland’s Midsummer

Not creature stirred
Not even a mouse
Vision getting blurred
Or just an illusion
If you come to the conclusion
And dare to leave the house
Heed this warning
The rain come a down pouring
Soon you will be scorning
The streets empty and deserted
The barbeque outside forgotten and defeated
Shivering in ten plus degrees
Wishing you had paid the fees
Of a nice vacation abroad
But your plan was flawed
Planning on spending
The day never ending
At home in stead
Spending the Finnish carnival
An event most formidable
Even though holier than thou
Or the proverbial sacred cow
That was all but a dream
You hear yourself scream
If you’d only been so lucky
But now feeling yucky
Your midsummer
What a bummer
Surely a nightmare to remember

So what really happened:

“Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional”

Growing Up?

Growing up?

Such a pain in the ass
Can’t I just pass?
Fifty knocking at the door
Oh what a bore
The golden middle age
The wisdom of a sage
But feeling closer to nineteen
Like the proverbial prom queen
Act your age
Usually the phrase
Leaving me wondering
Who are you mothering
I’m not a child
Even though wild

Growing up?

What’s the point
Not even a joint
Or a few
Can cheer you
If you can’t have fun
On the play ground
Beyond fifty one

Fluffy, soft and white
In the softest of light
Tiny jewels flickering
Waking the slumbering
Into a bright white blossom
In the snow as light as cotton

On the odds and ends
Our time we spend
Without our creature comforts
We might be up the rafters

A bench of stone, wood or wire
Can get you out of the dire
When feeling spent and tired
Take a load off and enjoy the fire
