Under the Sun

“Necessity… the mother of invention”
Plato

Under the Sun

When all is said and done
Enjoying the sea and the sun
Finally, having lots of fun
Though, there is one pun
It all happened in Greece
Before they took a lease
On their little piece of heaven
Always open twenty-four seven
But, alas the play will still continue
And I hope to this wonderful venue
End up
Soon enough

“Things are not quite so simple always as black and white”
Doris Lessing

Life in the Monochrome

I am neither black or white
I am just a gray delight
Maybe not so much fun
Being only a colour of one
That of a monotone
But not a clone
You may call me,
Monochrome

Birds

“Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
The Raven EDGAR ALLAN POE

Birds

Face to face
Eye to eye
This was one race
Which could go awry

Standing there
Assessing me
Its glare
Devouring me

Without any warning
Flying across the air
Giving me the scare
Looking with scorning

No escape
Its mouth agape
It tilted its head
Quoth the bird “Polly wants a cracker”

“Do not cross the brook for water”
Finnish proverb

Entry and Exit Ways

A mystery wooden door
Right on the second floor
If you open it, you may score
Or
It may leave you, wanting more

Towers

The mighty towers of Helsinki
They do empower this little city
Look up, and you’ll fell giddy
Climb up, and you’ll get dizzy

“Do not cross the brook for water”
Finnish proverb

Entry and Exit Ways

You must choose:
Win or loose
To die in your boots
And even pray, for Zeus

Two entry ways
Before you join the maze
And your enemy face

Be careful always
Follow the hallways
This may take days

There will be chase
Even empty space
Before the winner of the race
Can fame and fortune, embrace

The Niemelä family
Wrote their name permanently
On top of the door way
Just to scare people away

Historical architecture…
No, this is not a lecture
Just a statement from a collector
Of experiences bringing pleasure

“Do not cross the brook for water”
Finnish proverb

Entry and Exit Ways

A message in the window
Left there, by a weirdo
Maybe, as innuendo

If you choose to follow
You’ll remain in limbo
Until it is time to continue
