Serene Friday

“The poet does not fear death, not because he believes in the fantasy of heroes, but because death constantly visits his thoughts and is thus an image of a serene dialogue” Salvatore Quasimodo

Give and Take for TBT

“In a deal, you give and take. You compromise. Then you grab the cash and catch the next train out of town” Irving Paul Lazar

Give and Take

I told you so, but you never listen!

A “conversation” between two people about everything and nothing as it may have happened.

“You are so thick headed aren’t you!”

“So I’m the one who is the bad guy again, huh?”

“Well you are. There is no arguing about that!”

“So you are blaming me about everything that has gone wrong?”

“Yes, what’s your point?”

“No point. It’s hilarious! You are hilarious!”

“So now you are saying I’m a joke? Is that it?”

“No, I said you must be joking.”

“That’s not what I heard.”

“Then there must be something wrong with your hearing.”

“So now you are complaining about my ability to understand you!”

“No, I said you understand things in your own way.”

“Are you calling me stupid? If you are I will show you stupid…!”

“Good grief! Read my lips: You are stubborn!”

“Just because I hear and understand something differently than you, that makes me stubborn?”

“Potato, tomato!”

“Are you mocking me?”

“No.”

“It sure sounded like you were.”

“You heard me wrong then!”

“Again with the hearing! I am not deaf you know!”

“What was the point?”

“What point?”

“Why are we arguing?”

“I dunno. The weather is not so good today?”

“No it’s not. The forecast promised sunshine tomorrow though.”

“Sounds good.”

“Yep.”

“Yep.”

“Ok then!”

“Yep.”

Sometimes an argument is just that. The words are not important. The point of it is, there was no point to begin with. A bad day can cause feelings to run amuck. Venting with someone you trust and then forgetting about it is cathartic.

Athens, Acropolis

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart” Helen Keller

9

Athens, Acropolis

Basking in the sun
Athens, Acropolis
A place of fun
A place of knowledge

Climbing up the mountain
Looking for the fountain
Of wisdom and history
Shrouded in mystery

8

Walking in the footsteps
Of the ancient Greeks
But, watch your steps
On the narrow streets

Once reaching the top
The effort but one hop
The view of awe and beauty
You know it really was your duty

I’ll stab you in the back, if you’ll stab mine

s that a knife on my back or are you just happy to see me?” Gun Roswell

I’ll stab you in the back, if you’ll stab mine

Call it suspicion or plain paranoia
Still not turning my back on ya
Perhaps a lack of trust in a fellow human
But definitely not a friendship in blooming

We come in friendship (shoot to kill)
That kind of kinship, gives you a chill
The pessimist would underline this cliche
And using “trust no one” as a catch phrase

Surely this rant was written in jest
Just something to get off my chest
If there was a lesson to be learnt, then just fine
At least you did not have to read between the lines

Loud

“It’s always so loud in here” Gun Roswell

Loud

Noises, voices, music and such
Sometimes it all gets just too much
Wishing there was a cone of silence
I could sit inside for a while at least

But the world is loud
Most likely being proud
Ignoring my humble request
For a soundless place

Maybe I need to set on a quest
For this mysterious space
Unless someone has a big volume button
With which to turn down the level
At least for a little while to revel
In total mode of shutdown
Until someone decides
The levels again to raise

Sundays I five

“Sundays, yes, those fun days” Gun Roswell

Sundays

End the day with coffee

Take off your shades and
On to the table them place, the
Cup of coffee to enjoy

Watching people passing by, some
Of the sigh, some even smile, but
For me today is a

Day of rest, a day
Of peace, a sunny day at that
It is Sunday at last

Travel time

“Travelling into a foreign land, instead of snow, I get sand” Gun Roswell

Travel time

Travelling for a few days
Can be fun for do much less
Sightseeing and window shopping
On the buses on and off hopping
Click click with the cameras
Pictures sent out to the masses
Walking and hiking
Up the streets biking
Feeling like an adventurous Viking
When all day long
Out there going strong
No matter the weather
Rain, snow or better
Until night finally falls
And the sleep hour calls
Then dreaming time stalls

Barcelona

“Travelling is such fun” Gun Roswell

Barcelona

When in Spain, in the city of Barcelona,
You really want to sing, dance and holler
For it’s marvels and beauty of a kind
In any other city is really hard to find
Someone else already made that song
Where two voices tell it really strong
Falling in love with this place may be easy
As everything here is done with pleasing
The one and only which could also be you
And then you’d be among the chosen few
Once you enter via port of any sort
Then leaving this place is not the worth
Of any other place
So then here you stay

New Year’s resolutions?

“Another new year in the calendars” Gun Roswell

New Year’s resolutions?

Promises were made, just to be broken
A New Years resolution was just another token
Words without meaning in haste spoken
Was I really dreaming or just hoping?

Why then go through this bit?
Just because everyone else did
So now, trying myself to rid
Of this oh so very guilty trip?

It’s only the first day of the year
So why do I have this guttural fear
Of not being able to complete the deal
I made with myself trying towards better to steer?

Maybe, just maybe give some slack
And try to good intentions most of this stack
As I am looking towards the future, take a few steps back
Do what I can, and the rest, well only my best to do, then relax
