Live Long and Prosper

Today’s quote is near and dear to every Trekker on this planet called Earth, as quoted by the belowed character Mr Spock on Star Trek. Often also used in social media, is the abbreviation, LLAP.

“Live long and prosper” Mr Spock, Star Trek

The Vulcan salute was devised by Leonard Nimoy, who portrayed the half-Vulcan character Mr. Spock on the original Star Trek television series. A 1968 New York Times interview described the salute or greeting gesture as a “double-fingered version of Churchill’s victory sign”. Nimoy said in that interview that he “decided that the Vulcans were a ‘hand-oriented’ people.

“Laughter is the best revenge for anger” Dalai Lama

I Laugh, There For I Am

Call me crazy
Call me a fool
Or just a simple tool
Laughing, grinning
Face in full leering
Feelings of winning
Life gave you lemons
Or battling with demons
Trying not to worry
Or even feel sorry
For things that cannot change
Rather arrange
Time for a full belly laugh
Several times a day
It isn’t daft
Keeps your mind clear
Throughout the year
When you wake up
Forget the wile
Put on that smile
It is the best make up
Everyone can wear
Which will not tear
Come rain or shine
All will be fine

“Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” Ira and George Gershwin

Can Do Attitude

(This one is a must sing ;P)

You say neither, I say either
You say potato, I say tomato

Potato, tomato
Let’s call the whole thing off

You say sell, I say buy
You say it can’t be done
I say it will be fun

Oranges, apples
What the hell happened?
They don’t rhyme
I don’t mind
Let’s call the whole thing off

You say I’m boring
I say you snoring
You say it’s very bad
I say don’t be sad

Boring, snoring
“What the hell happened to this, song(?)?”
Let’s call the whole thing off

You say it’s a fake
I say a piece of cake
You say you’re such a jerk
I say it will work

Jerk, work
Let’s call the whole thing off

You say I’m obsessive
I say I’m positive
You prefer negative
I say my glass is full

“What?
You keep loosing the rhyme!”

“Oh, don’t be such a bore!”

“No, I’m just sore,
Because you keep singing off key!”

“Oh, please,
You are even worse, and don’t try to flee!”

Worse, off key
Let’s call the whole thing off

“OK, so let’s try this again one more time?”

“Fine! And this time make it rhyme!”

You say I like it plain
I say you aren’t quite sane
You say It’s not so simple
I say smile and get a dimple

Simple, dimple,
Let’s call the whole thing off

You say I’m going home
I say you don’t like it alone
You say let’s end this song
I say play the gong!

Song, gong
Let’s call the whole thing off

“So what now?
You’re just going to quit?”

“Yeah, that is the idea in ‘going home’, as in leaving!”

“So then, we must part?”

“Oh don’t me smart, have a heart!”

“Maybe try one more time, my way?”

“Like the song title or the highway?”

“No, with the positive attitude!”

“Without the platitude?”

“Fine?”

“Wine?”

*Snort!*

You say I like it here
I say I like everywhere
You say maybe we can
I say let’s can can!

Can, can, yes we can
Let’s call the calling off, off
Now!

La Gun

chick-with-gun2

Just call the Gun
When you need things done
She’ll run
Be there, faster than
The speed of light travel can
Put out, all the fire
Get you out, from the dire

After all
She is doll
La Gun, with the fastest bullets

And the pun was intended!

Blogging 201, Day Four: Backgrounds and Fonts

Blogging 201, Day Four: Backgrounds and Fonts

You’re a theme pro, and you have a great plan for your header. Time for two more free tweaks that add a lot of texture to your blog — backgrounds and fonts.

Today’s takeaways: you’ll learn how to change your background color or add your own image, understand the effect different colors and patterns have on your blog, explore background shades that work with the other colors and patterns on your blog, and learn to pick the right font for you.

“Every time you post something online, you have a choice. You can either make it something that adds to the happiness levels in the world—or you can make it something that takes away”

Blogging 201, Day Four: Backgrounds and Fonts

* Step-by-step instructions on adding or changing your background
* Background dos and don’ts
* A primer on color theory to help you identify hues that work together
* How to choose and change fonts

After running the blog with a few colours other than the black, oddly enough, I returned to black 😛 This colour seems most fitting for my photographs and combined with white font, the outcome is simple and perfect in my eyes. Dark gray is also great for photos as is a very dark blue.

I also tried to increase the font, but it seems the current default setup is great, especially for mobile devices with smaller screens i.e. phones.

Writing 101, Day Three: One-word inspiration

Prompts come in many different forms. Sometimes, a single word is all you need to get your mind’s wheels turning. Here are six words:

* HOPE
* REGRET
* HOME
* CHOICE
* ABUNDANCE
* SECRET

Select one word in this list that speaks to you in some way. Have you always wanted to write about that one decision that changed your life? Are you a long-term traveler looking for the right city to settle?

“Home sweet home”

Writing 101, Day Three: Home

Other places are the best
They let you forget all the rest
But when I am away
I know I shouldn’t stay
Something deep inside me
A small voice with a plea
A soft whisper only for myself
Telling it is time for a farewell
Leaving the new place I must
Before the settling of the dust
Because

“There really is no place like home”

The old town of Porvoo
A home away from home
Flew there like a crow
Stated ,when in Rome…
Found the nearest cafe
Which was close to the bay
Enjoyed the sunny day
Until turn of eve
When it was time to leave

Blogging 201, Day Three: Custom Headers

Blogging 201, Day Three: Custom Headers

You’re more comfortable around headers now (we hope!). Time to create one that’s oh-so-uniquely you, and give your blog a distinct, unforgettable look.

Today’s takeaways: we’ll learn how to turn any image or text into a completely custom header, and understand how to put the final touches on this key part of our blogs.

“Blogging is great, and I read blogs all day long. However, my goal is really to have a deep, meaningful discussion with people. For some reason, I’m able to accomplish this best via email” Jason Calacanis

Blogging 201, Day Three: Custom Headers

My header is customized using an image from my personal archives and stating the blog’s mission quite nicely:

“Rantings Of A Third Kind
The Blog about everything and nothing and it’s all done in the best possible taste!“
