“I now find magic in the mundane. I’m also more creative – better able to look beyond the obvious and come up with new story angles” Deborah Norville
Child’s Play for Mundane Monday
“Look at this drawing pretty”
She stated quite wittily
“I made it for you
To make a copy or a few,
Because I knew
You needed your passport to renew”
She smiled quite happily
Of her clever execution
To my problem’s solution

“Life is mundane without the new and unexpected. I guess that has been and continues to be my downfall… I’m constantly searching…”
Adria J. Cimino
Left and Right for Mundane Monday
Passing,
The right side
Moving,
Towards the left side
Which side?
It’s really
A matter of perspective
The other right
Or the other left
The mind subjective
Do I have to choose
What if I loose
What is good for the gander
May not be good for the goose
Better then
To stay in the middle
Because
In the end
Life is a riddle

“Morning comes whether you set the alarm or not.” Ursula K. Le Guin
Early Morning on a Saturday for the Daily Post
Too early
Airport calling
Surely
You wouldn’t want to
Miss the flight
It took so long
And one
Sleepless night
To get there
Where ever
You now wanted
To go
Breathe in
Breathe out
Let the morning air
Cool and thin
Hitting your skin
Clear all doubt
For soon
Sea and sun
Will replace
The mundane
And it’s not even
A Monday!
Get the pun?

“Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.” Michael Jordan
Fun
Fun
Outside
In the sun
Bring on
Your hon’
Because, today
Nothing
Get’s done
Because,
Today is
Reserved
Only for
Fun

“I want a Jaguar, Jaguar, a Jaguar car” Gun Roswell
Jaguar for Mundane Monday
Shiny bright objects
On the hood of the car
Not satisfied admiring from afar
Closing in with careful steps
Ornaments of gorgeous animals
Mouths agape like howling cannibals
A feline of sorts
Put on this car of sports
A Jaguar,
Can go quite far
But how about,
This old car?
Got my prize
In a pocket size
A snap for this post
Now the image a ghost
Driving in my Fiesta
I really need a siesta
But in my mind
A tune of a different kind
“I want a Jaguar, Jaguar, a Jaguar car”

Poetry, Day Ten: Future
Could it be our last day of Intro to Poetry already?! Let’s keep our spirits up by focusing on whatever it is that’s coming next. Whether it’s about tomorrow, next October, or the year 2345, let today’s poem be inspired by your vision of the future. (Fears, hopes, and plans are equally acceptable, of course. As are robots!)
“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves” William Shakespeare
Road to Nowhere
The future
Now uncertain
When removed is
The safety curtain
No time
For bloopers
Nor reruns
Used is
The last dime
For a trip
To the sun
First
Summer
Then fall
No bummer
Just a ball
Future
Unfolds
We are
On a road
To nowhere
Travelling fast
Forgetting
The past
It would not
Have lasted
Anyway
Future
Unknown
Or so
We were told
Never mind
Just be kind
Your place
You will find
Past, present
All in imperfect
Time still
Well spent
Now
Heads up
Finish
Your cup
Legs, arms
Tucked inside
Let the slide
Your way
Down guide

“Creativity is piercing the mundane to find the marvelous.”
Bill Moyers
On the Rocks for Mundane Monday
A swirl in the sky
Clouds are alive
Sunshine and blue skies
Feeling alive
But
The boat just left
Me
On these rocks
Maybe try
If I float?

Narrow for The Daily Post
“They say it is a wide road that leads to war and only a narrow path that leads home again.”
Bob Massie
Narrow Surface
Tiptoeing
On this narrow stick
Easy going
Because, it really
Is not so thick!

Gate
“Open the gate!
Open the gate!”
The crowd went wild
Like a petulant child
The boat was arriving
No time for driving
“Got to get on board!
Because I left my Ford
On the docks
And it’s locked!”
And finally
To borrow a quote,
On a slow boat
To meet my privacy
