Every tunnel
Has its light
At the end

Driving Off for Mundane Monday

“Who can say what astonishments are hidden inside the most mundane being?”

Driving Off for Mundane Monday

On this futuristic moped
Travelling nowhere fast
Licence already revoked
But we are having a blast

Mock us
Call us
Old folk
Elephants
What ever
You want

We still rule
Just need
A little fuel

And

We are
Going, going, going,
Gone

Bye!

Red Eyes

Glowing red hot streaks of light
Staring, still scared to lose my sight
Instincts kicking in: Fight or flight

Getting closer and closer
Movement slower and slower
Breathing lower and lower

Questions, filling my mind
What kind of monsters do I find
Will they be bad or will they be kind

“Well, guess there is only one way to find out”
She said out loud
And then, she opened the box…

Sweet Cherries

Juicy and sweet
Quite the treat
When on the beat
In the summer’s heat
And well worth

Good things
Do grow on trees
If you look closely
The come in threes..

Or maybe twos
Or maybe
They do multiply
On the branches

Ocean View (WP Writing: Intro to Poetry)

Poetry, Day Nine: Landscape

The space(s) we spend our days in have such profound effects on us. Today’s prompt, landscape, invites you to explore your whereabouts and translate your thoughts into a poem. You could focus on the physical traits of a place you find beautiful, or on the way you interact with your surroundings at home, on the way to work, or when you’re on holiday.

“Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer – and often the supreme disappointment.”
― Ansel Adams

Ocean View

A magnificent ocean view
With endless shades of blue
Reserved, only for a few

Maybe
A place of worship
With a few virgins
Or
A place of searching
With thoughts merging
Perhaps
Some might call it
Nirvana
Or
What ever you wanna

The place of eternal blue
Quickly on you grew
Like a comfortable old shoe

And you
Would never want to leave
This place
With an ocean view

Poetry, Day Eight: Pleasure

From the tantalizing to the satisfyingly sober, have your poem convey a sense of pleasure today. Imbue it with joy, glee, and profound contentment — or, if you wish to keep it dark, write about the lack of or longing for pleasure in your life.

“A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke” Groucho Marx

Pleasure Pool

Turquoise, by the pool
Sunbathing, by the pool
Eating, by the pool
Toasting, by the pool
Grill fest, by the pool
Enjoying life, by the pool

Triumph! (WP Developing Your Eye II)

Day Ten: “Triumph” — Turn Up the Contrast

Triumph comes in all shapes and sizes: Your short story, accepted for publication in your favorite magazine. Your baby’s first step. Or the reward at the end of a cold winter walk: a massive elm tree standing beautifully in the light.

“Art is the triumph over chaos” John Cheever

Triumph!

I made it
Past thirty
On my way back
Crossing the track
I hit
Forty!

Winning an uphill battle
Trying to avoid the cattle
But then I heard the rattle

Side tracked
I backed
To the curve
Only to observe
A shot tire
Oh I was so
In dire!

But an idea emerged
I tracked down the heard
And back in the race in a surge

Into the goal
Victorious soul
Cows in front
My bike a chariot
Quite the stunt
Which would impress
Even Harriet!

What a triumph
Indeed!
