MUNDANE MONDAY CHALLENGE #39

“Our daily lives are so mundane, we get taken over by what is immediately in front of us and we don’t see beyond that” Benedict Cumberbatch

Dolls (Mundane Monday)

Eyes staring
Almost glaring
Never moving
Only viewing

Toward the future?
Or into the past?

No one knows
What on goes
In a doll’s mind
Just be kind

You may be surprised
Or even, hypnotized

They may be mundane
Objects d’art even
Dolls in the window
But no one really knows

I am soft
But I have thorns
I feel pretty
In my pink colours
I am hard
Watch out!
Better not land

Favourite Photo Friday, 2015-12-25

This week I would like to share a photo which was actually not yet posted on my blog, rather only on Instagram. I have been trying to stay off my blog during this holiday week and take some time off during my short stay in the gorgeous island of Lanzarote, but it seems the blog has a will of its own and keeps whispering in my ear to post 😉

There was a special moment up in the sky this week in Puerto del Carmen, which I would like to share with you all. A flashy light kind of a thing (call it a UFO if you will :p) appeared from out of nowhere and stayed a while. It seemed to be shooting a light beam into the sun and making it shine even brighter, if possible. I managed to snap this photograph with my mobile phone while peddling in the pool; lucky shot I guess!

Enjoy!

In the Here and Now

The Daily Post Weekly Photo Challenge: Now

Sometimes, we get caught up in nostalgia, future fantasy, or both, and we don’t embrace the “now.” For this week’s challenge, take a moment to notice your present, and share a photo of it.

“Change your life today. Don’t gamble on the future, act now, without delay” Simone de Beauvoir

In the Here and Now

Children’s voices
Echoing in the distance
A dog was barking
The sun warm on my skin
The wind blowing softly
Rippling the water slightly
The fluffy white clouds high
Up in the blue sky
Filtering the rays of the sun
Feeling being the only one
Sitting onto the empty bench
Enjoying the silence
As I sit by myself
Letting moments pass by
A soft content sigh
The only sound
In the here and now
To be found

Mundane Monday (REPOST)

Poetry and Photography
Photo challenge for PhoTrabloggers Mundane Monday

“Monday is great if I can spend it in bed. I’m a man of simple pleasures, really” Arthur Darvill

Mundane Monday

Just another Manic Monday
Certainly not my fun day
Back in the office again
Simply cannot explain
It just happens
Always after weekend
Leaving me baffled
I cannot help myself
And leaves me overwhelmed
I just end up here
In this stratosphere
Called work

“I don’t generally like running. I believe in training by rising gently up and down from the bench” Satchel Paige

A Bench to Sit on

I was looking for
A bench to sit on
What I hoped to score
Something close to a lawn
To lay my tired self
On a softer shelf

Then I saw it
The bench, made of stone
When I tried to sit
I felt it to my bones
Too hard for a fit!

Moving forward
I found one, made of wood
Maybe it wasn’t hard
Rather suitably good
Too soft for a fit!

So once again
I had to complain
But I knew, the right seat
Was just in reach
I just had to seek

A little while longer
As I moved along
The feeling now stronger
I knew it wouldn’t be long
I was close to finding
As I saw the metal shining

I finally found it
A bench made of metal
For me to sit
Soft as a petal
A purr-fect fit

Going up, going down
Never stops on its own

Of a modern kind
A machine more efficient
Is very hard to find

High up in the skies
Through the clouds it flies
The sheer size
Leaves you mesmerized

For this week’s favourite photograph, I chose the one I posted for the Blogging U Poem a Day challenge, aptly titled “Camouflage”. The poem written for the same, can be found behind the related post link.

“I had a rule that I had to go to bed before the sun came up. So I used to look up the sunrise times because I thought it would be bad karma to be going to bed as dawn was arriving” Eric Schmidt

Tuesday Morning Sunrise

Tuesday morning Sunrise
What a pleasant surprise
For the early morning riser
What could be finer
Than being greeted by the magnificence
Of mother nature’s excellence
On this fine december morning
A few days before holiday glory
