Snow and Ice, everything nice?

“The snow always falls when you are not looking, at least it seems that way, especially when you standing there waiting with a shovel!” Gun Roswell

The snow, does not wait for anyone, rather falls where it may, especially when the weather is too cold for rain or sleet so, without the heat, all of it, landing wherever it may, will freeze, thus laying a protective cover, all over the place. And if you are lucky enough to get a sunny day in your zone, then those frozen particles of snow, will most certainly get to shine and glow in the warm but cold sun shine all day, or rather short day long up in the North.

So, whether you are a fan of the winter, the cold and harsh environment, where all is frozen and covered with snow, then this season will most likely be treating you with all kinds of nice. But if you are a total hater of the cold and cannot stand to even look outside, well, maybe just take one small peak, because no matter hater of lover, this snowy treat of a cover, where the whole place looks like it is frozen in time, will certainly give you a small smile.

Frosted Windows

“It’s that time of the year again, everything getting frozen!” Gun Roswell

Like icing on the cake
Frosting forms on the window
Where ever the wind cold blows
The fragile frozen flakes
Suddenly, without warning, appearing
Before once more disappearing
Shapes for the imagination
The nature’s true creation
Trying them to capture
Preserve for the future
Always fails
The only thing, which remains
Is a tall tale
Without any trail

Frozen creek in winter

“The winter weather is pretty cold so it totally freezes everything solid the moment it comes around” Gun Roswell

The winter is taking over, all of nature, the birds, the bees, the trees even the clovers, but that is the design of nature, and you cannot throw against it any hatred, as the cycle is as it’s always been, the warmth followed by ever more cooling temperatures, and now, it is the time of total sub zeros, for a while at least, but this is not the beast to tackle rather let it crackle it’s way, creating frozen moments, monuments even, for whatever reason, maybe simply for us dwellers to enjoy and take those moments, skating along the bed of the creek, as the waters have turned to a sleek mirror of ice, something cool and nice, which is only possible during the time of winter at its coldest, when at its boldest. So, perhaps give a chance to the winter after all, even through the cold, simply dress up warm and you will be safe, for those wintery games, taking some pride with a smile of this gorgeous season, as it much like the others are here for a reason.

Winter is here to stay

“Sometimes, it just surprises you, overnight, the snow has fallen.” Gun Roswell

Enjoyed the fall
On many a stroll
At the door
Winter is here, never knocking, just appeared
With white
Everything blocking

Suburban Winter

“Snow on the outside? Cold outside? Below freezing temperatures? What on world is that all about? Duh – Winter!” Gun Roswell

Opening the front door to a brand new world or so it seems, as if into some fantasy kind of a strange world, I had been over night suddenly hurled?

Looking all white and crispy, with a clean and glittering cover on top, all places in the same shade, nothing dirty or misplaced, as only this gorgeous cover of the winter had been smote all over the globe, well at least on this part here, way, way up in the North.

And even if this last for a long long while, longer than the accompanying smile of all the dire the cold weather front will bring with it, and the summer season is totally short, that will elicit a soft snort in sarcastic tone, as it can hardly be called a season, rather a sense of treason as it last so short, but the winter, well, it is still pretty and fun, at least for the while and in the pictures and poetry, perhaps also as an excuse to remain indoors most of the time.

But for us tough Northerners, this is the way of life, and well, it might be a strife, but it’s nice to curl up inside with the warmth of the comfy fire right beside, and then do absolutely nothing, for a while at least, because winter, gives the excuse to anti socialise!

The frozen season has begun

“Yeah, so the water totally freezes when the temperature hits below 0 degrees Celsius, that is science not fiction. Just like the lakes and ocean surfaces. So, take out your skates and go, get out there for a spin, why don’t ya!” Gun Roswell

The early morning sunrise
Filling the wintery horizon
Across the land and even seaside
In a blanket of frozen ice

“The winter is the cruelest season of them all, at least, that is the way it was described before” Gun Roswell

Everything deeply buried in the cold air and frozen snow and ice, which admittedly looks very nice, when not having to shovel the stuff or slip and break something off.

But, the snow and ice is also a cover, a sort of a shelter against the cold weather, especially for the nature and the delicate seeds and those animals whom are deeply in their winter sleep.

So, before going off and scolding all that snow and ice, which mostly, is not that nice for the human dweller, there is something good about this season as well, like the protectiveness to nature it gives.

But also the pretty and gorgeous vistas of the snowy fields and forests, the statuesque contracts when a snow storm has passed and left behind all kinds of things looking artsy and nice.

And of course, for those appreciating the ever changes scenery, us, the card carrying photo snappers never weary of getting ourselves out here and taking the perfect pic, this winter’s season will give a lot of slack, and you don’t even have to walk far, as it’s all there, even on the back yard.

But, it’s pretty cold outside, most of the time in winter, so dress up warm to avoid the cold hand, of the dreary winter.

Sunshine? In Winter?

“It might be Winter and a sun filled day, but it’s still in the middle of a very cold and harsh winter, but perhaps, the seaside frozen, beckons for some sporty activities chosen for the occasion?” Gun Roswell

A snowy sunny day
In the land far far away
Up North, let us pray!
Children came out to play
Even adults came forth

After all

What else is there to say
Because yet another
Fabulous and sunny Winter’s day
Has found its way
No matter winter or not
The people,
Where there it to slay!

It’s a sign of… something

“Colourful isn’t it, in the middle of all the not-colour” Gun Roswell

The harsh winter painted in white
Some say, the nature did it out of spite
But those who dare to venture
Into the great white open nature
Heed the coloured warning
Or else, your life may be storming

Wintery White

“The world has turned snowy white all of a sudden.” Gun Roswell

Whiter than white
The blanket so tight
Woven onto the ground
And into our minds

Yes it’s winter
Oh joy!?

(She says sarcastically
What she means really)

Quite the splinter
And a clever ploy!

First it was nice
Now it seems
You are staying
Just of spite
