Summer Reflections

“Summer is definitely still here, as per proof, the hot weather, skimpy outfits and reddish sunburns, which really do hurt! And those, are just few of the vibes, of the summer’s jive!“ Gun Roswell

Summer is always such a special time for most of us anyway. As it comes by every now and again. And while summer only lasts for a brief moment in time. Perhaps it is just fine. As then, it is much more easy to admire. All that it is to worship the plentitude of nature as it hits. Out of the blue, all green, yellow and well, blue too.

Take it all in, let it grab your heart and then you too can sing. As soon enough, the rough of the upon coming fall. Followed only by the cold and harsh of winter stalls, all the time in the world. While seemingly lasting forever. But will make the Summer Time, feel so much more better.

Monochrome in the harbour

“It’s another day of the week, naturally!” Gun Roswell

The days come along one by one (usually the way they do)
It’s almost like singing a song (verse by verse moving along)
Today it’s Tuesday, when only yesterday it was Sunday (that’s how I recall it)
And now, it’s getting late, no matter how I hesitate, tomorrow will be here, I can feel it near (What do you know: It’s Wednesday and midweek, what a geek!)

Guess I need to stop worrying about Mondays anyway (Oh, did you worry before? Did not know that…)
Since the days keep on changing without my aid (Yeah, need a time machine for that!)
Why worry about some day, when there is always the next day (True, do like the Spanish do, manana!)
So, on this day of …ahem, Tuesday, I swear, not to worry about another damned day!!! (Liar! You know this promise or what ever is as good as the up and down going fever! You will never keep it, trust me, I know shit!)

Bring it on Tuesday, Wednesday and even Friday (Don’t forget Monday and something else!)
Every day, from this day on is my day (note to writer, how many times can you get away with the word “day”?)
I will start appreciating the here and now (Yeah, really! Like to see that)
And then, if not, nobody have a cow! (We already did! It’s there in the backyard!)

A blanket over everything

“There is snow out there, surprise! Even if it is the middle of the winter, it always seems to be the case!” Gun Roswell

The snow like powder, hit the nature, covertly, even if it was all forecast and supposedly would last at least for a month of few, once it had fallen and plastered itself all across the land, and wherever one was to stand, as far as eyes could see, there was only snow, snow, snow and then some, oh, what fun!

But, no matter where one stands, on the topic of snow and winter, it is always so pretty, the freshly fallen sprinkles, of the crips white powdery stuff, no matter if getting outside to the cold with lots of clothing, is always gone sound out with a huff and a puff, but having to laugh, once outside, when the prettiness of it all hits the eyes.

Seated in the shade, sort of

“Sitting in the cooling shade, even if I’m going to be late, from Sunday” Gun Roswell

The sunshine on a Sunday is always great, but then again, when it gets too hot, then it’s no longer so, and the best place to rest, or at least have a respite, is under the shade on a seat made for that special place. And so, the whole day, might just be well spent, seated under the protective shade avoiding all movement at all, but mostly, avoiding the brightly lit sun and the encompassing heat, and ain’t that simply neat.

But if such a seat might not be found, anywhere even if looking around and everywhere, there is still no scare as daring, into the sunny outside, can also be very nice, at least for a short while, until the heat starts to defeat one and that will soon be 5he end of fun, and the option remaining is to simply run and to quickly find, a spot outside of the sunny shine, preferably in a shady spot, well, then the day would continue smoothly once again, and the rest of the day could be spent, in the calming shade.

Being optimistic, in winter?

“Gambling is a real thing during winter, whether taking a public transport, a bike or the car to wherever you are going. Prepare to take your time as the trip, might take a while!” Gun Roswell

Winter?
So what!
I don’t care!
I am feeling
Quite optimistic
Riding my bike
Sitting on a bench
So what if it snows
It’s almost June!

Take a ride on the city line!

“Public transport can be a lot of fun to catch on, especially during a snow storm!” Gun Roswell

Public transit, oh what joy!
But, before you shout ahoy
Read this story of ploy

Early morning in January
I was really in a hurry
The venue was set in the city
And feeling a little giddy
After all travelling by train
Was not something to do in vain
Especially in the middle of winter
With temperatures below zero
And myself certainly no sprinter
And even less of a hero

Reaching the train station
After half jogging the way
Then I heard the notification
The train had been delayed
No indication as to arrival time
But they told us, all was fine
Just a minor snafu
The train would be there in a few

A few minutes went by
On the platform standing by
Then after a while
Waiting for the train to arrive
I was wishing I had taken the car
I would have been so very far

Oh what fun and joy!
Toes, fingers and nose freezing
The snow storm’s intensity increasing
Now I know, this was a winter’s ploy!

A visit to the big city (small)

“It’s winter, true. But sightseeing can be fun during those times too, especially in a smaller city, even if it is really close to where one lives.” Gun Roswell

The notorious part of the town
Clad in a glorious white gown
Don’t let the history fool you
Sit down on a bench for the view
Beautiful in summer or winter
No longer a sore splinter
Of the great city of Helsinki

A visit to the City

“Sometimes, one likes to get out of the suburbs and venture into the big city. Well, in this case, more like a small one but yeah, Helsinki can have some nice sights to see, even in winter.” Gun Roswell

When left is nothing more to shop
Many of the passengers at the bus stop
Eagerly into a transit will pop
Keeping a distance to the strangers
Good Lord knows what dangers
May lurk behind a simple “hello”

A snowy day in Suburbia

“Sometimes it rains, other times the snow falls, especially during winter times, it is expected to fall, alas, these days, with all the change, who knows which it is until you glance out the window and know for sure.” Gun Roswell

Like confetti thrown on a celebrating crowd
Covering everything in a white shroud
Looking like the skies fluffiest clouds
Enjoying the scenic vision feeling proud
Before the snowy blanket gets ploughed

Footfalls in my woolen socks

“Sometimes, it’s good to forget, the worries, the daily grind, even the shoes and simply stroll out there, into the freshly fallen snow, in only, woolen socks.” Gun Roswell

There are no missteps
Just follow my footsteps
And you may find
A reward of a different kind..
…A pair of woolen socks
