“The more violent the storm, the quicker it passes” Paulo Coelho

Calm Before the Storm, Daily Photo 2015-12-05, Part Two

The sun has almost set
Soon it is time to get
Indoors before getting wet
It will rain soon, I’ll bet

It is the moment of calm
Before the coming of the storm

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky” Rabindranath Tagore

Calm Before the Storm, Daily Photo 2015-12-05, Part One

Painted red is the evening sky
Clouds gathering before the eye
Time standing almost still
Feeling anxious from the thrill

It is the moment of calm
Before the coming of the storm

elves

“Elves are wonderful. They provoke wonder.
Elves are marvellous. They cause marvels.
Elves are fantastic. They create fantasies.
Elves are glamorous. They project glamour.
Elves are enchanting. They weave enchantment.
Elves are terrific. They beget terror.
The thing about words is that meanings can twist just like a snake, and if you want to find snakes look for them behind words that have changed their meaning.
No one ever said elves are nice.
Elves are bad.”
― Terry Pratchett, Lords and Ladies

Elves

“Tip tap tip tap tipe tipe tip tap”

The stars in the sky shining bright
No one knows where they tread

Dressed in white
Dressed in red

The Holiday Season is upon us
The Elves are all around us

Small or tall
They’re having a ball
Singing along
The holiday’s song

“Tip tap tip tap tipe tipe tip tap”

“I know sometimes I can come off like a lonely spinster in a tower. That’s not me at all” Daphne Guinness

Towering

In the distance
The mere existence
In the presence of significance
The towering height
In all its might

A Visit to the North Pole

“O, how glorious would it be to set my heel upon the Pole and turn myself 360 degrees in a second!” Joseph Banks

A Visit to the North Pole

A quick trip
To the North Pole
A little hop and skip
To the beat of the drum roll

The elves busy at work
Their faces in a permanent smirk
No time for breaks or coffee
Not even a little toffee

The holiday season is upon us
Which has caused all the fuss
Be careful where you step though
You may end up in a pile of snow

Santa’s sleigh
Without delay
Flying over the river
Presents to deliver

Hitch a ride
In a blink of an eye
You’ll be landing
At the front door standing

Was it a dream
So it would seem
But then again
Life is but a dream

“I am not a person who reaches for the moon as long as I have the stars” Gertrude Ederle

December Moon, Part Four

Echoes of the past
Echoes of the future
Time is moving fast
No later than sooner

Up high
In the sky
Total bliss
When time is
Standing still
If you blink
Even a wink
The moment
Passed you by
Oh how
Time flies

“Oh, don’t let’s ask for the moon. We’ve already got the stars” Bette Davis

December Moon, Part Two

“Look, the moon boss, the moon!”

December moon
You came so soon
Where did you go?
We were looking for you
Already a month ago
Here you are
Shining bright
Did you go far?
Never mind,
You are always
Such a delight!

Partly hidden
Behind the soft clouds
Playing chicken?
Or just a misty shroud?

“December’s wintery breath is already clouding the pond, frosting the pane, obscuring summer’s memory…” John Geddes

December The First

December the first
Came with a burst
A sunrise most gorgeous
It’s almost flirtatious

Come what may
December made its way
Holiday season upon us
With sunshine in abundance
