“When the sun has set, no candle can replace it.” George R.R. Martin

Friday, Sunset in Suburbia

Sitting at the window
In my little house
In deepest of suburbia
Watching the clouds
As they pass by
The sun slowly setting
Disappearing behind
The tall buildings
I keep on clicking
Capturing the turn
Of the brightest day
Into the darkest of nights

Blue Moment

“There’s never one sunrise the same or one sunset the same” Carlos Santana

Blue Moment

That silent moment
Between sunset
And complete darkness
The blue moment
Sets, before the sun

October Day in Suburbia

Photography and Poetry

“The fallen leaves in the forest seemed to make even the ground glow and burn with light” Malcolm Lowry, October Ferry To Gabriola

October Day in Suburbia

The sun was beckoning
Behind the closed window shades
The outside warm and welcoming
Blue skies and colours splayed
On the tableau drawn by nature
Quite the creator
Of beauty and awe
Almost dropped my jaw
When I stepped outside
And stared with pride

Leaves of October

“Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance” Carl Sandburg

Leaves of October

The leaves of colour
Soon but shadows
Slowly fading away
In the October rain

Autumn leaves
Falling down
From the trees
On to the ground

The winds are soon
But a silent whisper
As the leaves bloom
Out of existence

“When walking through the ‘valley of shadows,’ remember, a shadow is cast by a Light” Austin O’Malley

Shadow Play in October Part Two

The October sun’s shadows
Casting tall and narrow
The darkened figures
Painting abstract pictures
Onto every surface

Carefully you listen
But the only sound
Is the soft whistle
Of the Autumn leaves
Landing on the ground

“Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow” Helen Keller

Shadow Play in October Part One

The sun in zenith
Standing beneath it
My shadow casting tall
Despite feeling small

The shadows at play
On this October day
Wish I could stay
A while longer

Sunny Days in October Part One

Rain, rain, rain
And some more rain
But, wait… what?
Today, no rain?

Surprisingly sunny
To the point of funny
The air soft and warm
I could have sworn
It was late summer
But oh bummer

I wasn’t grinning
Because,
It was the beginning
Of October
