The long road to Sea

“On the look out for some lighthouses, along the seaside, on the tall piers“ Gun Roswell

The hunt has begun, something don, just for the heck of it or shear fun, as searching for the perfect spot along the long and winding pier, until something interesting I am able to see.

A construct of a sorts, tall or even a short, with a fancy light up on its very top, a guiding one at that, to keep the brave and fearless sea farers safe from any kind of major shipwrecks.

Running up and down, like a crazy person, trying to figure out, where all the great ones are hidden as not all tall piers are equipped with those features, with the magnificent kind of old school architecture.

But continuing on with my very search, as who knows from which corner these houses of sorts might lurk, because even if they aren’t that popular these days, some still around may lay, and finding one would be the high light of the day.

So, carrying on, walking along, each and every single winding and tall, pier I can see near and beyond, until that specific and perfect lighthouse comes my way, as it is the most perfect display for the long, search filled and darkened cloudy day.

There is some salty sea water, in my blood

There has always been sea farers in my family, seamen, sea-women, as even my grandmother was one, simply call them sailors as they sure did, sail I mean!“
Gun Roswell

The raging waters beckons me, to take a deep dive into the ocean wide
Why take the dive some might say, as the land is so much safer than the seaside
I simply reply: Because it is a part of me, the salty waters running deep within

There is no denying, the mermaid inside of me has risen finally
The dead give away? The fins where my feet before used to be
So, there is nothing to it, just rushing to the nearest harbour and dip
All of myself into the rushing waves, soon becoming my slaves
As I become one part of the whole, the one thing my heart stole
Even before the day I was born as this has always been my true self

So, no more dwelling in the role of a total land lubber
My feet are now almost like some kind of rubber
As I swim away from the safety of the familiar shores
And into the deep end of the life which is nothing like bore

Village by the Sea

Settled into a small seaside village, for the weekend at least, what could be more fun than that Gun Roswell

The quite tiny, yet very lively village
By the calm blues and sandy seashore exists
The every day life to some might seem dull
But the dwellers there, would that argument null
Because the life even without luxury, is very full

The fishing, the shopkeeping and even just being
Is the way or them, and starts early every single morning
Always a happy smile and a quick hello
To their neighbours but also complete strangers
Get the same treatment, without a seconded thought

And, when an errand tourist there might venture
On a weekend getaway from the daily grind, they might find
That no connection there exists of the internet kind
And soon enough, even after first huff, that will be really fine
Because visiting this settlement, turns out to quite the adventure

Sunset Boat

“The slow pace of the motorised vessel towards the setting sun.” Gun Roswell

relax-9

Take that axe
Off your back
Just, sit down
And then, relax
And I’ll bet
A bluest of sunsets
By the seaside
You’ll never forget
You wil be able
To see

Good things times Three

“Good things, always come, in threes, at least, the three tall standing windmills” Gun Roswell

“There is nothing magical to the number of three”
Some one supposedly wise, once told me
But, here is the thing you see, where I so totally, disagree

For a fact, I myself, do know this one simple rule
That good things, or even nice once, come in three for sure
Whether it be, a special on chocolate bars at the store that rule

Or a good series of books and even, the holiday time in weeks
Three, is totally the number that you want to seek
And if for that advice, you want to call me a total geek

Then, so be it, because, well, I simply love, the perfect number three
Maybe, you will too, if you just, take a chance and let yourself it feel
The enlightenment, which this then follows, well, may or may not set you free

But what ever you believe, hear, see, or even do
You so have the power, to do the do and choose
The perfectly rounded and open hearted glue

Yeah, you guessed it, it is so, the number of them all
The belle of the proverbial and even true ball
Number of three, it has the world and even more!

Water Painted

“The sounds of splashing water, reminds me, of summer, days spent by the seaside, watching the waves coming to shore“ Gun Roswell

Water around splashed, as the blurry projectile, into the cooling waves dashed
It wasn’t officially, the season for any kind of water games, but it was all the same
For the adventurous crusader of the elements, taking the plunge without hesitance
The others would just have to wait, the fire, the wind, even digging in the dirt
As the inviting liquid, no matter what state it was in, cold, hot, stormy or even
Tornado level tsunamis leaving, the ever venturing object of a body heaving
In anticipation of the varied feelings, when playing among those alluring components
Made by free, well, almost, by nature itself, a long time ago, so, even if exited
Just try to take it slow and enjoy, all the waves possibly caused, while diving in
There is no loose or even a win, just a moment of fun, while riding ever so high
On the tall waves of the splashing waters, frolicking around with the sea otters
And after all that needed to be done, for the fun, the adventurer will return, home

The World really does exists in a Cup of Coffee?

“There is a time for coffee and that time is anytime possible” Gun Roswell

The day, started, just like, any other day
With a steaming cup, of the hottest and darkest liquid, to save
This, tiny soul and eventually, the world

Staring, into the still silence of the whirlwind
Also, still knowing, that something, would soon begin
And, that it, would most likely, change the world

Smelling, inhaling, sipping, enjoying, the total bliss
No matter how much or how often, cannot believe this exists
The total euphoria, I would like to share with the world

But, before all that was going to happen
I am, into this, elixir of life, with full force, tapping
So, for now, the world, will just have to wait
Until the coffee filled blissful state to be hurled

The Observer in Me

“Sometimes, it’s good to take a step outside of it all, to just be there and observe life” Gun Roswell

I was sitting in the coffee shop, my well-deserved latte in front of me. I was content in emerging into my daily readings on my tablet, but for some reason my eyes kept wandering to the hassle in the bar. Patrons were leaving and new ones were stepping into the shop.

‘Why not!’ I thought. I could play the part of the observer for a little while before continuing my own tasks. Who knows, maybe I would pick up an idea or two for my next writing project.

Sipping my coffee, I noticed the young couple in the corner booth. They were enjoying each others’ company, looking each other in the eye, no words were spoken. New love was in the air.

Feeling like a peeping Tom, I search for something else to gaze upon. My eyes were scanning the room and landed on a woman with three offspring. The mother was deep in thought, or so it seemed, reading the newspaper while her children were throwing napkins, straws and other small items at each other. I wondered how she managed to turn off the surroundings. The patrons at the next table however were not so lucky. Shaking their heads, they grabbed their orders and moved to another table at the farther end the coffee shop.

I laughed a little at the scene played out before me. Good thing I had been thinking ahead and chose the solitary spot close to the windows in the corner. I had a clear view of the whole establishment, but I was also able to concentrate on my reading if I wanted to.

I thought to seek out one more scene before tuning myself out. I noticed the waitresses behind the bar having a heated conversation. I was not able to hear what they were talking about, but clearly the other one was angry about something and kept on ranting, while the other one was just listening in. Wide eyed, nodding every now and again. The angry one was waving her arms in the air, while the quiet one remained stationary, her hands seemed almost glued to her sides. It seemed from an observer’s perspective, the ranter was in charge in that particular relationship, while the listener did just that and probably agreed to everything the ranter told her.

I lost my interest after a little while and noticed the coffee house getting emptier. Guess the rush was over and I could get back to my reading.

A visit to Porvoo River side

“The hidden gem, the old city with a narrow river” Gun Roswell

The river snaking across the expanse
This may just be the promised land
Clear waters as far as the eye can see
A perfect place for the summer to flee
