Shoes, shoes, shoes
I see lots of shoes
Shoes over here
And shoes over there

Oh take a look
At the pretty slingback
In the window there!

“Tragedy is a close-up; comedy a long shot” Buster Keaton

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2015-12-29

Today’s quote often comes to my mind, when I try to write my tales with a comedic twist.

“Dying is easy, comedy is hard” is supposedly a death bed quote attributed to character actor Edmund Gwenn.

When director and screenwriter George Seaton visited Gwenn as he lay in bed ill, George Seaton said to Gwenn “This must be terribly difficult for you.” Edmund Gwenn is supposed to have replied:

“Dying is easy, comedy is hard”

In honour of Yuletide, this week’s quote is that of Christmas time:

“I used to be Snow White, but I drifted” Mae West

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2015-12-15

Today’s quote is for something we all love, or as I do, love to hate, SNOW.

But seriously, snow is fun when you can travel to it and leave when you had enough, much like it is with my relatives. Snow is fun when you don’t have to shovel it, when it doesn’t cover your car in the morning and when it is not over a meter high. Snow is fun when it is a pictoresque view of which you can snap beautiful photographs and then leave for a warmer climate to publish them.

“A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water” Carl Reiner

“There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship” Thomas Aquinas

Quote A Week Tuesday #3, Part One and Two

Today is time for two of my favourite quotes, and as usual, quite something to relate to:

The old adage “Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer” (Sun Tzu) can easily be translated into “With friends like that, who needs enemas” (The Adventures of Ford Fairlane).

In my youth, yes, believe it, I did have one, it was often hard to know whom to trust and I grew a shell around my person, trying to keep disappointments outside. As I have aged, no not grown old, rather wiser (if even possible :P) the protective exterior has somewhat cracked and trusting people a little more has become easier. Not too much mind you, but just enough! That being said, a little mistrust never hurt anyone?

Meanwhile, enjoy my “little lesson in life” in part two:

Mistrust is such an Ugly Word

enema

Mistrust is such an Ugly Word

enemies close

“Trust dies but mistrust blossoms” Sophocles

Mistrust is such an Ugly Word

My poor little mistrusting thing
Think ,what joy a friend may bring
Together sharing your precious blings
Laughing when playing in the swing

Trust is a difficult thing
You say quicker than the clock could ding
I am afraid of the sting
Even if it means alone I would sing

Your world may not always be on a string
And you may not always be the king
But if you want that bell to ring
Spread out far your wings
And in the chorus you may sing

trust

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2015-11-17

For today’s quote, I actually have two for the price of one. And with my personal twist of course 😛

Usually it is nice to get feedback, especially the positive kind. Unfortunately sometimes (read more often than usual) you get feedback or opinions from people, who need to voice their own point of view for anything and everything.

For myself, a “like” is sufficient and indicates someone enjoyed your offering. If you have something valuable to add, then make a comment, hopefully the positive kind. But in this writer’s opinion, if you don’t like what you hear, read or see, just move along 😉

“If you don’t have anything nice to say, move along”

positive

“Opinions are like voids in the derrière; everyone has one”

opinions

Keep calm and keep on quoting!

Writing 101, Day Seven: Let social media inspire you

One of the goals of Writing 101 is to tap into new and unexpected places for post ideas. Today, let’s look to Twitter for inspiration. Don’t worry — you don’t need an account to participate in this prompt. Even if Twitter isn’t your thing, you might be surprised that you can find starting points for our own writing in other people’s tweets.

Today, write a response to one of these tweets. Shape your post in any way you choose — agree or disagree with the tweet, or use it as a starting point for a story, personal essay, poem, or something else.

“Procrastination is like a credit card: it’s a lot of fun until you get the bill” Christopher Parker

Writing 101, Day Seven: Let social media inspire you

“I can’t decide if procrastination kills creativity or is essential to it.”

Dancing, romancing
Laughing, prancing
Completely trancing
Time fast advancing

Panic quickly attacks
There is no turning back
Time was supposed to lack
Or maybe I am a quack

I was supposed to do
An essay, story, poem or a few
If I only had the slightest clue
I would not be feeling blue
Right now

Was I procrastinating?
Maybe just contemplating?
Planning my next writing?
Or simply, just waiting?

A simple prompt enough
Not too a difficult task
But if I must, I must
With these words at last

I am not going to be defeated
And this poem is completed

procrastination-fucked

First quote of the series, is a rather funny one. For one thing, it is often true. But then again, like most quotes, it can inspire to think and as an extension, write 😉

A Quote a Week Tuesday: New Tuesday Series

As inspired by the 3 day quote challenge, I am launching a new serial, “A Quote a Week Tuesday”.

Since I am so fond of quotes and use them in all my posts, I decided this could be a fun challenge for Tuesdays.

Any quote, own or borrowed will be posted each Tuesday accompanied by photos of the same theme.

If you want, you can ping back your own post to this site. This, however, is not a round robin type thing, rather just something on the side 😉

Let the quotations continue!
