“Without poetry, stories would be told in sepia” Ellen Hopkins
Sepia
The faded colour
A reminder of the past
Many nuances to discover
Monochrome to last
Once a colourful picture
A photographer’s signature
Now, maybe a work of art
Or close to someones heart

“After a storm comes a calm” Matthew Henry
After the Storm
After the storm
Everything is calm
Surrounded by silence
When roaming the island
Not a soul in sight
A sole bird in flight
The scent of nature
The intoxicating mixture
Enhanced by rain
Hard to restrain
My rejoicement

“Things are not quite so simple always as black and white” Doris Lessing
Life in the Monochrome
I am neither black or white
I am just a gray delight
Maybe not so much fun
Being only a colour of one
That of a monotone
But not a clone
You may call me,
Monochrome

“Necessity… the mother of invention” Plato
Having Fun in the Sun
When all is said and done
Enjoying the sea and the sun
Finally, having lots of fun
Though, there is one pun
It all happened in Greece
Before they took a lease
On their little piece of heaven
Always open twenty-four seven
But, alas the play will still continue
And I hope to this wonderful venue
End up
Soon enough

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
The Raven EDGAR ALLAN POE
Birds
Face to face
Eye to eye
This was one race
Which could go awry
Standing there
Assessing me
Its glare
Devouring me
Without any warning
Flying across the air
Giving me the scare
Looking with scorning
No escape
Its mouth agape
It tilted its head
Quoth the bird “Polly wants a cracker”
