The blues are everywhere

“It usually happens, on Mondays, the blues, Monday blues, but now, it’s just every day…” Gun Roswell

Looking out the window
Window, with a big frame
Frame, so large and pointing to the yard
Yard, between the big houses
Houses, which are built so tightly
Tightly, that you can hardly squeeze
Squeeze your tiny self, between the buildings
Buildings which are forever growing taller
Taller, while me, myself, am growing smaller
Smaller, but not that of my dreams
Dreams, of the wide open sea
Sea, with all the shades of blues and greens
Greens, like the forest hardly ever seen
Seen only, in my, eternal dreams
Dreams, so big, it makes me think
Think, if I will ever be able to see
See the true forest of green or even the wide sea
Sea, where the blues are so cool
Cool as the bluest of skies above
Above he wide open calm ocean
Ocean, which will be never ending
Ending only, if I stop, dreaming

Crete revisited – it’s a water filled life!

“Travelling can be such fun, unless it’s not” Gun Roswell

After twenty-five years, it was time to set foot on the island of Crete. Yes, years do fly by so fast, it’s better not to start counting backwards, rather use the safe term “a few years ago”. It was interesting to see, what had changed and what had not. Of course, this wasn’t a whole island trip, rather a one week fun packed package holiday in the midst of the working year. But still, there is no law saying, it can’t be enjoyable. But moving on, the island was lush green, as it was spring time and not too many tourists yet, since it was off season.

So, what is the number one thing to do when in Greece? Go to the beach, of course! What else did you think? Well, a beach, pool, spa, any kind of water source really you can find, and believe you me, there are plenty to choose from. All clear, blues and turquoise shades, some with waves and others more calmer soothing places.

Take your pick on the activities, be that sightseeing while hiking up and down the hills. Go fishing and catch a tall tale (at least). Or simply relax and bathe under the sun (better stay under the parasol if you are from the North like me!).

Somewhere out there, across the Horizon

“Sitting on the beach, dreaming of lands beyond the sea, new places and people to see… oh well, some day, out there I’ll find what I seek.” Gun Roswell

Laying on the soft sand
Staring into the horizon
Dreaming of a foreign land
Will I find something grand?
Is there a greater plan?
But, too lazy to leave this strand
So, at least I will get a tan

Rough Terrain Ahead

“Sometimes, hiking can be fun, but when the going gets too rough, well, it’s time for a break!” Gun Roswell

With my trusted hiking boots
I’m on a trek to find my roots
All that is missing, is some juice
But no time to loose
Just follow the goose
Surely, he’ll the right path choose
Which will lead to the moose
Who will treat you to some mousse

Under the Tall Palm Tree

“There is plenty to do, in the shade on a warm day, sitting under the cooling tree, sipping, on some ice tea.” Gun Roswell

Under the palm tree
Down by the sea
My sweetheart and I
Are…
Enjoying some tea

Petrified as Lava

“It’s historical, from a long time ago, the frozen fire, now feeling no dire.” Gun Roswell

The Poolside is so Divine

“Digging up some of the old stuff, mainly pictures from the travels past, as you all now know, that all, is kinda in the past, the travelling part that is, because of, well you know… but one can dream, right?“ Gun Roswell

The cool and blue, and that is the truth as the sun is scorching, so the best place for loitering, really is, inside the cool waters. Digging in there, never coming up, except for a huff and puff, and right back in, diving. Pretending to swim, but really, what I am doing, is letting my old tired body, sink into the balm of that which is, the calming blue water.

Some kind of art perhaps?

“There is art and there is art and then, there is something else” Gun Roswell

The stacked and colour filled objects
Adorning the shelves with so many toppings
Artwork or mundane things for grabs?
That is, surely, for the onlooker to assess

Magically appearing and disappearing
The selection never the same, but alluring
Things made for the sake or art?
Or just for the sake of the outlook, so very smart

Stuff made from metal, glass or plastic
Containing something to drink or eat
The cover maybe more desirable than the content
But buying is as easy as it is tempting

Towers, Clouds, all of it tall and reflected

“Some kind of a tower, of power, and some clouds, with the nature’s own thunderous force reflected, to the surface of the waters“ Gun Roswell

The colours might vary, from coolest of blues to the green scale of the spectrum, but it is all okay as they are inside the pallet of that which is blue, so do not me sue, when you see the two pictures with the similar but different hues.

It just might be real life, memorex or then simply, something done with a computer installed application of the photographic kind, but whichever it is, just, don’t insist, for me to give a way the very secret!

The waiting maid at the door

“Those who served in the past, with little or none in compensations and with too much to do, never a moment to their own, only a resting place in the end” Gun Roswell

The young woman stood there, by the door, not sure whether she could step inside, onto the floor, after all, she was there only for one purpose, to serve, the family, those who would have her, a labourer for the day, working for minimal wage.

She wasn’t educated by any means, but what she lacked in knowledge, she always managed to compensate with courage and hard labour, never the one to shy away from any given task, no matter how hard and long it would last.

When the working day was done, staring in the early morning hours and ending by nightfall, when the rest of the family had fallen, sleep catching, as only then was she allowed to take a rest, for a few hours until the next arriving day break.

This circle of her life went on for years to come, until she was finally done, getting a proposal from the farmer’s son and off and married she was, not her goal in life, but way back when, this was how a woman’s life was spent… or then again, perhaps, it wasn’t in the so distant past after all?
