“The darkening night, with plenty of artificial light, something available in Paris only?” Gun Roswell
The night upon, staying strong, the darkness never scary, so feeling daring, venturing into the streets of the city, because the lights are on, and there are plenty of, all kinds, the paths lit, to the hilt, and ain’t that just sweet, as this is, Paris, the city of lights, or something similar I think I once heard, but yeah, gorgeous, lively and totally cliche, but would not want to kiss any of it, the beat, the people, the ambiance. As only so, in the land of France.
“I never travel without my camera. One should always record one’s steps if nothing else than for the future reference, especially during the days of change, even if it’s only, in monochrome” Gun Roswell
Rain, rain, rain But that dreaded and endless rain Running down the very drain
But, around in the City of London Without the feeling of any kind of boredom As there are too many things to see My little face, has finally lit up with a glee
“Sunset by the lake, taking a slow boat across the moat, just to watch the spectacle” Gun Roswell
It’s no fake, the setting sun playing, the vivid colours laying all across the sky and land
It’s that time of the day, the setting of the sun at hand
Folks gathered from both near and far, just to have a glimpse of the spectacle, observing with mouths ajar Those daring, will try to reach the sun and the sky, before it’s too late
Slipping in their boats across the large size moat of a lake, without time to hesitate
Rowing, rowing, rowing their tiny hearts away, just to bask in the display
“Sometimes, the weary traveller simply needs to rest, for a moment to lift up their feet, simply because of the heat and well, walking, walking, walking for so very long. And even when feeling strong, there is the need to recharge, before strolling along.” Gun Roswell
But, the reality soon hit, right smack in that pale face And the sweat pouring, nay, soaring out each and every pour started After some moments, when soaked through each and every garment It was time to get the hell out of the sun and find some shade
Glancing, glaring, staring, all around the heads spinning Trying to find that one perfect spot, where to sit down on the dot It was already starting to get really frustrating The face, neck and body, covered with sweating
But then, in the corner fo the very eye, which had so much spied Behind the vail of frustration, even if this was supposed to be the best vacation A spot in a small cafe, there, in the shades, hidden from the sun All that remained to do, was to gather some courage and toward it to run
The setup like from a picture perfect A table with two seats and a large bench set Just for us weary touristy types way over their heads Boy, am I glad this day us here finally had lead!
Seated happily for the rest of the day Deciding to spend it in this very same place Ordering food and drinks was so easy as cake Why the hell would anyone do anything else
“Is this real life or memorex? Remember that commercial from the beyond? Is the reflected perfect setting from a sunny beach, a poolside sun-bed real or just, a recording of some holiday from the past? Of those days you wanted for so long to last?” Gun Roswell
The mind might be playing some tricks on me, as I am slowly sifting through, all the bundled up memories in my own mind, of the holiday, years back, quite sublime. It really happened by accident, as I ran across, an image in a forgotten folder, of the vision captured, at the perfect moment frozen in time, when all was simply, fine, in the good old times, when we were all freely allowed to explore the world around us, without too much of a fuss.
So, dwelling on that photograph for a while, without rush and hurry, even if the image was a tad blurry, as was my locked away memory of the place, the time and the plenty of sunshine, un-phased by whatever negatives there might have been there along the way. But as so many other things in our minds, those hazy days of yesteryear will always have a golden hue to them, or most of them do, as trying to save only the few good ones, with or without the puns.
“Sometimes, a chair is just a chair, to sit on. But when travelling far and long, you really need something to sit on, the hurting feet cannot too long go, and so, any chair is a blessing in form. As soon as spotted, the empty chair, over there, becomes the most precious respite of them all.” Gun Roswell
The designated holiday times, having finally arrived Shouted out, was a big hoot with some jives Packing up, all the needed trash For this, unplanned, quick getaway, in a flash
So now, headed for what ever kind of port Was ready to accept us, to start this trip of a notice short Because this thing was certainly going to happen With or without all that likely crappin’
OK, so after all kinds of back and forth ‘xplaining The road trip was finally on the part of landing The island of ones dreams dead ahead in perfect still Well, as much seen from a small cockpit window sill
Off and out and into the taxi cab with a shout Soon enough the accommodation in sight with sign shouting loud “B and B” for all sizes and kinds Just come on inside and your place find”
After the slightly drama, when doing all of the unpack It was finally time, to get up and go out and yes, slack After all, this was supposed to be. a holiday to the letter so strong With rest, relaxation, something something and all that jazz all day long
When getting outside, the warm wall hits you in the face It feels so good, after so many months of living inside the icescapades In the land way, way up north, where the only transport is a sleigh Wanting nothing more than to get out of that place
But, the reality soon hit, right smack in that pale face And the sweat pouring, nay, soaring out each and every pour started After some moments, when soaked through each and every garment It was time to get the hell out of the sun and find some shade

“The blue colour calming and inviting, despite the chair rather small, but this is the custom, no seats reserved rather free for all. So, do, take a load off, on a sunny hot day, a moment stay, before taking to the streets for some touristy stuff to do.” Gun Roswell
