“The destination does not matter, not really, it’s the trip in whatever format you end up taking it, which really gets you in the spirit of things” Gun Roswell
Flying across the skies Waiting for the price At the end of the station A promised vacation
The journey taken Was not a long one Each morning awoken To the rays of the sun
Surrounded by history Shrouded in mystery Time spent on the beach Bliss at hands’ reach
Enjoying each day Life a large buffet Until it was time Back home to climb
“Sometimes, it’s nice, if you can, just taking things easy, with the brain, taking its own vacation, at least for a moment there, in the lazy shade, staying, like them cats in their afternoon nap” Gun Roswell
Sunshine, with a few fluffy clouds passing by Sitting under a tree, letting out a sigh Down the valley, up the mountains The shadows are bouncing The guardians of the palace Keeping an eye on the chalice A lazy gaze cast over the passer by Stern look warning “don’t you even try” Time is almost standing still Nothing to do but chill Another lazy day soon ending To the evening light blending As it is, vacation time The best of times?
“Sometimes, when it’s really hot, the sun is shining above, it’s good to find a place to relax for a moment, preferably in the shade with a very cool drink” Gun Roswell
The summer holidays, had finally arrived Shouted out, was a big hoot with some jives Packing up, all the needed trash For this, unplanned, quick getaway, in a flash
So now, headed for what ever kind of port Was ready to accept us, to start this trip of a notice short Because this thing was certainly going to happen With or without all that likely crappin’
OK, so after all kinds of back and forth ‘xplaining The road trip was finally on the part of landing The island of ones dreams dead ahead in perfect still Well, as much seen from a small cockpit window sill
Off and out and into the taxi cab with a shout Soon enough the accommodation in sight with sign shouting loud “B and B” for all sizes and kinds Just come on inside and your place find”
After the slightly drama, when doing all of the unpack It was finally time, to get up and go out and yes, slack After all, this was supposed to be. a holiday to the letter so strong With rest, relaxation, something something and all that jazz all day long
When getting outside, the warm wall hits you in the face It feels so good, after so many months of living inside the icescapades In the land way, way up north, where the only transport is a sleigh Wanting nothing more than to get out of that place
But, the reality soon hit, right smack in that pale face And the sweat pouring, nay, soaring out each and every pour started After some moments, when soaked through each and every garment It was time to get the hell out of the sun and find some shade
Glancing, glaring, staring, all around the heads spinning Trying to find that one perfect spot, where to sit down on the dot It was already starting to get really frustrating The face, neck and body, covered with sweating
But then, in the corner fo the very eye, which had so much spied Behind the vail of frustration, even if this was supposed to be the best vacation A spot in a small cafe, there, in the shades, hidden from the sun All that remained to do, was to gather some courage and toward it to run
The setup like from a picture perfect A table with two seats and a large bench set Just for us weary touristy types way over their heads Boy, am I glad this day us here finally had lead!
Seated happily for the rest of the day Deciding to spend it in this very same place Ordering food and drinks was so easy as cake Why the hell would anyone do anything else
“Sometimes, the coolest places can be found just around the corner, even here, in suburbia, no matter the weather though, as it’s summer!” Gun Roswell
When visiting a neighbouring suburbia You may end up getting a hernia When trying some moments to snap And into the skylights tap Watch out for the heavy traffic Or get yourself into something catastrophic
Run over the streets quickly But keep that camera clicking Presto and Voila! Before you get to say ha! Make sure all your body parts are there If not, then someone might get a spare So now, the tours have ended And indeed, twas time well spent
“The cliche of a sunrise, well, it just makes me smile to look at it, that’’s all, the sunrise I mean, not the cliche!“ Gun Roswell
Walking on an empty beach in the early morning hours simply to reach, that best spot on the sandy shore, to catch the first rays of the dawn. Making my space on this on specific place as I wait with patience for the spectacle of the morning display to come alive because without that special thing to be seen, I am not able my day to begin, rather falling to a pit of darkness, caring less of it all, and that is no way to be living.
But I am staying strong, knowing the ball of fire will not take long, to make its appearance like it always does. And it is simply because if a day would happen, without seeing at least of glimpse of that one shiny thing high up in the skies, then most of us would likely die and that is no lie. As the bright and fiery star even from a far, give us all that we need to survive and if we are smart, we keep on worshiping the bright bringers of life each and every morning, as it rises over the horizon.
“Life, death, life, things that nature, always come to mind, when sitting in absolute silence, by the seaside” Gun Roswell
Life is but a dream. Or so, it could quite easily seem. When seated at the soft and sandy beach. The calming blue waters gently flapping against the shores. Some would say the silence and the calm would be a bore. But for those of us waiting to simply ponder about all the wonders around. Well, noting could be farther from the truth so sound As both older people and some of the youth, need that special time, feeling fine. Simply, by sitting down and letting only the mind. Wander.
“The sea is mighty rough, some days, for sure. But most of the time it’s calm and soothing.“ Gun Roswell
The roars of the waves as they keep on hitting the rocky shores, the howling winds in the background rubbish there store, well, it all could be a bore, so much crap going on, the day dull and grey, without seemingly any rest on display.
Alas, there is one distant gleam of hope to be seen in this, the darkest and dullest of scenes, a ray of sunshine peeking through the thick layer of clouds which still the skies heavily shroud, but being patient, allowing the wait, sitting there without hurry or worry, and then soon enough, it will appear.
