Travel Log: Greece – Rhodes Island 1

Travel Log: Greece – Rhodes Island

Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and structural remnants of its crusades-era occupation by the Knights of St. John. Rhodes City features the medieval Street of the Knights and the castle like Palace of the Grand Masters, once a Turkish prison and now a museum. The city’s bars, clubs and cafes bustle during high season.

Come and join me on this journey in a five part post session and reminisce the trip together to the gorgeous island of Rhodes, Greece, where the nature is lush and the sun shines all year around. Where you can do both “touristy” stuff or simply relax by the pool or the ocean. Or then, if you are like me, take photographs and write a blog 😉

Friday does come, but only once in a week!

“Thank goodness, it’s finally Friday, ’bout bloody time!” Gun Roswell

Friday does come, but only once in a week!

Friday, at last, this week, could not have gone any faster
Faster, as I very well know, will this day end too
Too, and then “boohoo” I cry, but hey, that is just fine
Fine, as I know, there will be another Friday
Friday, which unfortunately only comes, one a week

Week, is such a dreary measure
Measure, like a year or even a hundred
Hundred, is the number of the percent
Percent, which I always give this day
Day, unlike so many others consists of hope
Hope, so hard to find these days
Days, gone by, but hopefully plenty ahead
Ahead, like the word hope, wish, what ever
Ever, I wish Friday here to stay
Stay, please stay, I totally pray
Pray, like you are a deity or something so great
Great, better than anything else
Else, is where I usually am
Am, exist, being, living, solely for Friday
Friday, oh how I love you
You, this, feeling which you can only bring
Bring little ol’ me, each and every week
Week, oh, were are back to this again
Again, and in circles I run until
Until I come to the end of this poem
Poem, so yeah, guess I have a thing for Fridays then!

Look down, now!

“Watch out for the ledge, you might just fall, down!?” Gun Roswell

Look down, now!

Quick, look down!
Look down right now
Now, you see it?

It? What is it you mean?
Do you mean the ocean?
Ocean as blue as the sky?

The sky, so very high
High as is this drop down
Down, way down to the bottom

The bottom of the pit
The pit, which in you fall
Fall, and never up crawl

Crawl as hard as you may
May you forever down there stay
Stay until the rapture

The rapture?
What if the rapture is something nice?
Nice, as a slice of pie?

A pie you can enjoy
Enjoy just like this pit
This pit, where I now sit

Sit until the end
The end of times
Times which are so great

Great as the ocean wide
Wide as this beach here
Here in the pit
The pit, where I now sit

I see what you are trying to pull
Pull it real hard, as I am no fool
Fool enough though, to sink

Sink to the very pit
The pit which in you now sit
Sit together we will
Until the end of times

Porvoo old town and surroundings 3

“Every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home” Matsuo Basho

The colours
Of the old town
Will turn
An upside frown
Into a huge smile
When staying a while
In the historic city
Of Porvoo

Listen to the poll
And take little stroll
Pick up a doll
And do a little dance
Take a chance
On the wide expanse

Wandering around in Tallinn

“I thought this place was more old school, but it’s actually quite modern, at least in someways” Gun Roswell

Wandering around in Tallinn

Narrow alleyways
And painted windows
The old town is full of
Perfect hideaways

A church from the past
Should be quite the blast
It was built to last
Alas
It may be run down
But hey, this is the old town!

Driving a Lada car
Will probably not get you very far
But most likely
To the nearest bar
Where you are always, the star!

If you wish to travel far and fast, travel light. Take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears” Cesare Pavese

Helsinki Sea view Panorama

The city, with a view of a wide panorama
The display, fully, filled with so much drama
Well, at least, in the words of this poetry to write
Just look at it! Then there will be no argument or fight!

At the Market Square in the city centre of Helsinki

“Helsinki isn’t all that bad. It’s a very nice city, and it’s cold really only in wintertime” Linus Torvalds

At the Market Square in the city centre of Helsinki

The non stop hustle and bustle
The eternal use of the rustle
All them waiting customers
Lurking about, during this, summer
The well known Market Square
The biggest one yet I do swear
On this side, of the town
Some say even, the jewel of the crown
Bursting with all kinds of life
Peacefully, without any kind of strife
Roaming all of them stands
Even if you are not a great fan
But still, you may enjoy the ambiance
So come on down, and do, take a chance

Tired

“These times, make me so tired” Gun Roswell

Tired

It’s so hard to get up
I try to resist the huff and puff
Looking out the window, wishing I wasn’t here
Rather someplace nice, over there

Even on this silent Sunday
I know this is not my day
For I am feeling sick and tired
Not creative or even inspired

The same ol same ol awaits
Doing all the things I love to hate
The only cheer for me the pictures
From a happier time far in the past

I know deep inside this feeling won’t luckily last
But dwelling on it for a moment I gasp
And then after a few passing hours
I get up, and once again, somehow, feel within, the lost power

And, yeah baby, I’m back again
As the cliche strikes and then I smile
It’s been a long while
But for now, that’ll do just fine
