Early in the Winter’s Morn’

“Sometimes, it’s quite good to wake up too early, especially if the sun is up and shining, the snow fresh and glimmering brightly.” Gun Roswell

Early winter morning
Early, before the dawning
Fresh tracks in the powdery snow
Carefully found before the wind blows

The snowflakes frozen
Glazed against the window
Ski tracks on the ground
But not a soul to be found

The crescent moon
Present before noon
But not far behind
The sun with its shine

Rush Hour in Winter

“Riding to work in a horse driven sleigh, that is certainly a display, especially in the city centre!” Gun Roswell

it’s the early morning traffic
Which left its very first tracks
The snowy streets, filled with sleet
No good for bare feet
But a horse and a buggy
That is the way to travel snuggly!

It’s just Black and White colours

“The winter is filled with nothing but blacks and white colours, never mind the odours, as the flowers went with the fall rains!” Gun Roswell

Black and White
Yes, those are colours bright!
In the snow filled light
It’s simply Nature,
Shining, ever so bright

Winter – what a truly aching splinter!

“Winter came to the streets of suburbia, laying down a blanket of fluffy white snow in its wake.” Gun Roswell

Winter, winter
Gave me a splinter
Looking, at my finger
Let out, a whimper
Oh, what a stinker
Is this, snowy winter

Ride a Bike, if you can find it!

“Sometimes, things get buried in deep in the snow, even bikes, so be wary, where you may find it, the bike, that is!! Gun Roswell

In snow, not cotton
Buried, but not forgotten
Wheels, maybe slightly rotten
Never mind,
I will think of something
For riding my bike
There is no stopping!

Today

“Something about totally new days and clean slates?” Gun Roswell

If you are really smart
Today,
You’ll get a fresh clean start
Gone is the darkness
It might have been harmless
But caused a lot of anguish

From onward of this date
With the fresh clean slate
Hold your head up high
Look far into the sky

But heed this fair warning;
Or else, you may get stung
Because, onto your tongue
A snowflake, may be landing!

Simply Red and then Buried

“They were fresh, at least for a while there, until the snow fell, then they got lost, buried until spring.” Gun Roswell

Red as were the berries
In the newly fallen snow
Got totally buried

Winter Wonderland?

“Gambling is a real thing during winter, whether taking a public transport, a bike or the car to wherever you are going. Prepare to take your time as the trip, might take a while!” Gun Roswell

Winter?
So what!
I don’t care!
I am feeling
Quite optimistic
Riding my bike
Sitting on a bench
So what if it snows
It’s almost June!

A very Cheerfilled Independence Day to Finland! (established 1917)

“I tried to learn the Finnish language, which is really, really, really hard, and I realised that if I want to really learn it, I just need to figure out the swear words first, because those, are totally effective” Gun Roswell

Our Land (national anthem)

Oh Our Land Finland Fatherland
Echo Loudly Golden Word
No Valley No Hill
No Water Shore More Dear
Than This Northern Homeland
This Precious Land Of Our Fathers
No Valley No Hill
No Water Shore More Dear
Than This Northern Homeland
This Precious Land Of Our Fathers
One Day From Your Bud
You Will Bloom
From Our Love Shall Rise
Your Hope Glorious Joy
And Once Your Song Fatherland
Higher Still Will Ring
From Our Love Shall Rise
Your Hope Glorious Joy
And Once Your Song Fatherland
Higher Still Will Ring

A Faded Holiday Memory

“Looking back to the ye ole times.” Gun Roswell

faded-holiday-memory

A faded snapshot
Of a place, the time forgot
This was no holiday, store bought
Rather a memory
Every child should have got
