Taking a snow day

“It’s quite white on the outside, lots of snow having fallen, no end in sight, which really is no plight, rather an opportunity, for a snow day, to indoors remain, having some time off?” Gun Roswell

Soft snowflakes falling down to the ground
Like confetti thrown on a celebrating crowd
Covering everything in a white shroud
Looking like the skies fluffiest clouds
Enjoying the scenic vision feeling proud
Before the snowy blanket gets ploughed

Flaky flakes, on the windowsill remain

“The wintery wonders right there on my windowsill, pretty little flakes forming all kinds of cool shapes“ Gun Roswell

The cold weather had made its point, the rain from before turned into snow and hale, and then freezing onto the windowsill, creating tiny stars of ice, looking very nice. And of course they do as they are made to look like tiny stars, glittering and blinking in the cold winter’s early morning sun light ever so bright, making the onlooker smile.

Beautiful things the nature will spin, weather wise, no matter rain, snow or ice, there will always be something totally pretty left behind, right there on the windowsill for the casual viewer to look at, and that is a matter of fact, even if the lack of warm weather might cause some chills for the patrons of the nature kind of art.

But no matter the weather, there is really something so very special about the cold and the icy sparks attached tote surface of the window, as they will not there too long hold, so keep on admiring the view reserved only for a few moments in time until the chime of warmer weather starts to rise and then they are gone for good.

Down, down, down the hill

“Sometimes up is down, often times though, down is up, especially when falling off a really fast going sleigh. Alas, getting up and back on the track, the fun to be had when going fast down the hill.” Gun Roswell

When ever there is snow on the ground
And a small mountain or a molehill found
The kids will arrive in flocks
Dragging their sleighs to the top

“Mommy, mommy, look at me!
Look how fast I am going!
Oops, look, there’s a tree!”

<Crash, bang, boing>

“Mommy, mommy, look no teeth!”

The kid only laughingly stated
As back up hill he ventured
If only to once more ride
Before getting his dentures

A bench, on the beach, in the middle of winter?

“How can you really enjoy the seaside smack in the middle of winter? I mean, you have to be a tad gaga in the ole head to sit there, in the freezing snow, by the frozen waters in the windy and rather cold weather even if the sun just might be shining? Or do you know something we mere mortals don’t?” Gun Roswell

Looking for my favourite spot
The one I prefer for break times
Buried under snow it seems
Workings of a wintry plot!

Snow aside,
I really don’t mind
Sitting down for a few
Enjoying the silent view
Before the evening
Sun sets

Mr Plow hard at Work

“Something borrowed, something blue, at least, when frozen through and through. The workers on the outside, out there in nature during those dark and harsh winter hours, certainly earn the respect from all of us sitting cozily inside sipping our hot drinks feeling warm and sleepy.” Gun Roswell

When you are in trouble
And it’s snowing full throttle
No need to struggle
Just call on the double

Mr Plow

Here is how
Feel the wow
Before you raise
An eyebrow
All gone is
The snow

Mr Plow

A sunny winter Friday

“It might be Friday and a sun filled day, but it’s still in the middle of a very cold and harsh winter, but perhaps, the seaside frozen, beckons for some sporty activities chosen for the occasion?” Gun Roswell

A snowy sunny day
In the land far far away
Up North, let us pray!
Children came out to play
Even adults came forth

After all

What else is there to say
Because yet another
Fabulous and sunny Friday
Has found its way
No matter winter or not
The people,
Where there it to slay!

Optimism, in nature

“They still grow, not as strong as before, yet continuing to hang on despite the harshness of winter. Perhaps even raising their middle fingers to the freezing cold.” Gun Roswell

Living, breathing, growing
Even if it is still snowing
Bending not breaking
Sometimes shaking
But soon it will be warm
After the cold and storm

Fresh footprints in the snow

“You can track those gone before, having carved a path in the fallen snow. At least in the early morning winter hours, when the snow showers have subsided. Only hoping they are leading where you want to go.” Gun Roswell

Barely visible imprints in the snow
Leaving behind, a soft glow
Only to be trying to follow the flow
With a pace certainly set to slow

Fluffy, soft, white – snow

“It looks like cotton candy, true, but it smells like nothing at all, tastes kind of bland if you dare to try it, then melts in your hand when you touch it. As it is simply water, nothing more.” Gun Roswell

Fluffy, soft and white
In the softest of light
Tiny jewels flickering
Waking the slumbering
Into a bright white blossom
In the snow as light as cotton

Early Winter Mornings

“The crisp of the air greeting your lungs, the freshly fallen snow covering nature all around, silence as nothing else is a wake, not yet… this is winter at its best, the early morning hours, just around sunrise” Gun Roswell

Early winter morning
Early, before the dawning
Fresh tracks in the powdery snow
Carefully found before the wind blows

The snowflakes frozen
Glazed against the window
Ski tracks on the ground
But not a soul to be found

The crescent moon
Present before noon
But not far behind
The sun with its shine
