Under the Sun

When all is said and done
Enjoying the sea and the sun
Finally, having lots of fun
Though, there is one pun
It all happened in Greece
Before they took a lease
On their little piece of heaven
Always open twenty-four seven
But, alas the play will still continue
And I hope to this wonderful venue
End up
Soon enough

“Things are not quite so simple always as black and white”
Doris Lessing

Life in the Monochrome

I am neither black or white
I am just a gray delight
Maybe not so much fun
Being only a colour of one
That of a monotone
But not a clone
You may call me,
Monochrome

Birds

“Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore,
“Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,” I said, “art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient Raven wandering from the Nightly shore—
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night’s Plutonian shore!”
Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
The Raven EDGAR ALLAN POE

Birds

Face to face
Eye to eye
This was one race
Which could go awry

Standing there
Assessing me
Its glare
Devouring me

Without any warning
Flying across the air
Giving me the scare
Looking with scorning

No escape
Its mouth agape
It tilted its head
Quoth the bird “Polly wants a cracker”

Caturday

This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail

The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat

After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual

Caturday

When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat

Seagulls (one)

“When the seagulls follow the trawler,
t is because they think
sardines will be thrown into the sea”
Eric Cantona

Seagulls

“Are you looking at me?”
The seagull retorted angrily

“If you did not bring a fish,
Then on a secret I will not dish,
Nor will I grant you any wish!”

“Are you a bird or a genie?”
The passerby asked,
Bewildered, of the seagull’s comment

“What on earth are you on about?
I was just flapping my snout,
What ever comes out
Never you give a doubt!”
The seagull sarcastically responded

“I, I,”
The passerby stammered,
“I just thought…

“You people with the thinking!
Don’t think, just do!”

“Oh, ok then!
I wish
For a juicy fish
And a side dish
Of a salad!”

“Wish noted
Wish may
Or may not be realized.
It’s hard to say
With these modern
Wishing machines.

Now,
Move along,
Nothing else here to see,
Just enjoying the sun,
Trying to get a tan,
So, move along!”

“Is this a band I do see?
A band of seagulls?
Perhaps, a Flock of Seagulls?”

“A smart guy, eh?
Whatcha looking at?
Never seen a few birds flock?
And now, now you want us to rock?
Very well,
If this will sell
Then let’s all
Have a rock ‘n’ roll ball!”

Then, the band started playing
A band made of birds
Birds called seagulls
A flock of seagulls…
