“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still” Dorothea Lange’

Favourite Photo Of the Week

On the way to Peru
Or possibly Katmandu
Onto a side track we flew

Soon enough, in a locale new
With a cloudy blue hue
And a gorgeous mountain view

“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still” Dorothea Lange

Favourite Photo Of the Week

So many to choose from
I don’t even know
Where they all come from
But I guess it is the how
I am the only one to blame
If some of them gets the fame
This is what I chose this week
Hope it is what you all seek

World Wide Wednesday in London

Posted in World Wide Wednesday

“There’s nowhere else like London. Nothing at all, anywhere” Vivienne Westwood

London

Over the rooftops
To the hustle and bustle
Of the streets of London
In just a few hops
A few old castles
And a famous dungeon
Hop on a bus
Without much fuss
Follow the lines
And you’ll be fine
Eyes wide open
Seeing more than hoping
In the evening
You are dreaming
Of how much more
The next day has in store

World Wide Wednesday in Athens, Acropolis

“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart” Helen Keller

Athens, Acropolis

Basking in the sun
Athens, Acropolis
A place of fun
A place of knowledge

Climbing up the mountain
Looking for the fountain
Of wisdom and history
Shrouded in mystery

Walking in the footsteps
Of the ancient Greeks
But, watch your steps
On the narrow streets

Once reaching the top
The effort but one hop
The view of awe and beauty
You know it really was your duty

Caturday Poem 3

“The ideal of calm exists in a sitting cat” Jules Renard

Caturday Poem

I am a tiger cat
Hear me roar!

My furry stripes
I am wearing proud
Sometimes picking a fight
‘Cause I like being loud

But when groomed and fed
And safely resting in bed
I am a cute little kitty
Without any hissy fitty

I am a soft kitty
Hear me purr

Caturday Poem 2

“In nine lifetimes, you’ll never know as much about your cat as your cat knows about you”
Michel de Montaigne

Caturday Poem

I still remember
That day in September
When a furry bundle of joy
Appeared at my door
And with a loud roar
Shouted: Ahoy!

Over thirty years ago
With four more in tow
With fullest of force
Changing the course
Of my entire life
Without much strife

A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere” Groucho Marx

Caturday Poem

When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat

The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat

After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual

This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail

“My philosophy, like color television, is all there in black and white.” – Monty Python

Day 7

Going, going, almost gone
Now from summer, it’s so long
But something else, will come along
When fall and then winter
Will sing their songs

“Which is probably the reason why I work exclusively in black and white… to highlight that contrast.” – Leonard Nimoy

Day 6

A tall tower and its smaller twin
Living, side by side,
On an island, made from winds

With the blue ocean wide
And the land around them thin
No hiding, from the high tide

But together they survive
For they are kind
And nothing them, can divide

“When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes.
When you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their soul!”
Ted Grant

Day 5

High up
On the mountain top
The basic instincts
Are kicking in:

Clouds filled, with life giving water
Arrived into the valley, with a fog like holler
Do not worry about survival anymore
Looks like the weather gods,
Rewarded us with a big score
