“I saw the angel in the marble
and carved until I set him free”
Michelangelo
Backyard Angel
Snow flakes landing on the ground
Covering the land like a white crown
No stopping of seasons changing
Both in rain and sunlight bathing
The backyard angel sitting still
Feeling neither chill or thrill
A guardian of this household may he be
But not a sound nor move will make he
Rest assured your home is safe
As long as the backyard angel in his place will stay

“When preparing to travel,
lay out all your clothes and all your money.
Then take half the clothes and twice the money.”
Susan Heller

History written in stone
Time to get my mind blown
Hiking up the many stairs
Counting my steps in pairs
The many ancient ruins
On top of the mountain
The reward of the effort
Which made me sweat a lot

“Our daily lives are so mundane,
we get taken over by
what is immediately in front of us
and we don’t see beyond that”
Benedict Cumberbatch
Dolls
Eyes staring
Almost glaring
Never moving
Only viewing
Toward the future?
Or into the past?
No one knows
What on goes
In a doll’s mind
Just be kind
You may be surprised
Or even, hypnotized
They may be mundane
Objects d’art even
Dolls in the window
But no one really knows

“A black cat crossing your path:
Usually signifies,
that the animal is going somewhere”
Groucho Marx
Black Cat for Caturday
Alert, awake
Nothing would shake
The determination
Not leaving this station
For any reason
Except,
For the hunting season
After all,
Next night fall
Would be
Her targets downfall

“Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.”
― James Herriot
Tails of the Black Cat
The furry black cat
On the sidewalk sat
Looking for that rat
Who had entered the flat
The flat where the cat
Slept on the mat
Now ready for combat
With the daring rat
Who had woken the cat
From his well earned nap
“Soon I will you catch,
You feisty little rat!
I bet you taste like a bat
And possibly are non-fat
After all that
I will finally have my nap
On my comfy little mat!”
