Shadow Play in October Part Two

The October sun’s shadows
Casting tall and narrow
The darkened figures
Painting abstract pictures
Onto every surface

Carefully you listen
But the only sound
Is the soft whistle
Of the Autumn leaves
Landing on the ground

Nightfall in Suburbia

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers” L.M. Montgomery

Nightfall in Suburbia

The expectance of storm and rain
Transformed into a beautiful play
The sunset beyond the treeline
Never looked so fine
The colours painted in the sky
Catering both mind and eye
A perfect ending for the day
I wish I had more time to stay

September in Suburbia, Part Three

Roaming around the Hood
Because the weather was really good
Clouds floating in the blue sky
Wishing if only I could fly
The sun warm on my skin
Melting the coldest of Finns
Colours burning bright
Ideas taking flight
Snap, click, snap, click
Hoping to score some great pics
So here they are
I didn’t walk too far
But still got a great bunch
In a time it takes to have lunch

“I love September, especially when we’re in it” Willie Stargell

September in Suburbia, Part One

Sunshine, rain, a rainbow
Blue skies, dark skies, a rainbow
The weather in constant turmoil
Life in constant recoil
Colours on the leaves turning
From green to bright red flaring
Observing through the viewfinder
All of Mother Nature’s wonder

Gun’s Travel Log: Greece – Rhodes Island 18

“Happy is the man, I thought, who, before dying, has the good fortune to sail the Aegean sea” Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek

Gun’s Travel Log: Greece, Rhodes: Ode to Rhodes

Gun’s travel log, stardate: Finland, EET (GMT +3)

Bye, bye beautiful island
It may not be my home land
But I promise once more to return
When the travel fever starts to burn
And I will start to yearn
Of the blue and turquoise sea
As far as the eye can see
Even though a Finn
Still loving the fun
And the warmth of the sun
On my skin
So maybe next year
You will see and hear
Me returning to this island

Today was the last day of the holiday and sadly tomorrow morning we will take off.
Relaxing in the warmth of the sun and snapping a few memories in the near surroundings was all on the agenda.

Basking in the sun
What could be more fun
I can think of none
Last day of holiday
Luckily on a sunny day
Tomorrow we’ll be on our way
On the plane back home we’ll fly
To our friends we’ll say goodbye
There will be no dry eye
The skies briefly turned gray
As if to sadly say
For a while more stay
But, in the end
The time spent
Was a holiday to recommend

Blue Skies, Poetry and Photography

Photography and Poetry

“Nothing but blue skies from now on…”

Blue Skies

Today
A display
Up in the sky
I saw the light
Shining so bright
Feeling high
A big smile
On my face
In this place
Where bliss
Exists
Today

The Sun

Photography and Poetry

“Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you”

The Sun

Today something strange happened
Leaving most of us quite baffled
Something called “the sun” appeared
With its striking rays all of the sky smeared
Out from our caves we emerged
Rubbing our eyes in an urge

The sun boss, the sun!
Someone shouted
It was no pun
Even though doubted

There had been many a tales
Like someone seeing the whales
Of such oddities happening before
But never ever in the wildest dreams
Would we hoped to have scored
Or so it seems

Now, bearing witness
To this unusual event
The sun really existing
Like an early Christmas present
