Seated in the summery heat

“Sometimes, a chair is just a chair, to sit on. But when travelling far and long, you really need something to sit on, the hurting feet cannot too long go, and so, any chair is a blessing in form. As soon as spotted, the empty chair, over there, becomes the most precious respite of them all.” Gun Roswell

The designated holiday times, having finally arrived
Shouted out, was a big hoot with some jives
Packing up, all the needed trash
For this, unplanned, quick getaway, in a flash

So now, headed for what ever kind of port
Was ready to accept us, to start this trip of a notice short
Because this thing was certainly going to happen
With or without all that likely crappin’

OK, so after all kinds of back and forth ‘xplaining
The road trip was finally on the part of landing
The island of ones dreams dead ahead in perfect still
Well, as much seen from a small cockpit window sill

Off and out and into the taxi cab with a shout
Soon enough the accommodation in sight with sign shouting loud
“B and B” for all sizes and kinds
Just come on inside and your place find”

After the slightly drama, when doing all of the unpack
It was finally time, to get up and go out and yes, slack
After all, this was supposed to be. a holiday to the letter so strong
With rest, relaxation, something something and all that jazz all day long

When getting outside, the warm wall hits you in the face
It feels so good, after so many months of living inside the icescapades
In the land way, way up north, where the only transport is a sleigh
Wanting nothing more than to get out of that place

But, the reality soon hit, right smack in that pale face
And the sweat pouring, nay, soaring out each and every pour started
After some moments, when soaked through each and every garment
It was time to get the hell out of the sun and find some shade

Glancing, glaring, staring, all around the heads spinning
Trying to find that one perfect spot, where to sit down on the dot
It was already starting to get really frustrating
The face, neck and body, covered with sweating

But then, in the corner fo the very eye, which had so much spied
Behind the vail of frustration, even if this was supposed to be the best vacation
A spot in a small cafe, there, in the shades, hidden from the sun
All that remained to do, was to gather some courage and toward it to run

The setup like from a picture perfect
A table with two seats and a large bench set
Just for us weary touristy types way over their heads
Boy, am I glad this day us here finally had lead!

Seated happily for the rest of the day
Deciding to spend it in this very same place
Ordering food and drinks was so easy as cake
Why the hell would anyone do anything else

The seat in the cafe outside

“The seat in the cafe outside in the sunshine is begging just to be sat down on” Gun Roswell

The seat in the cafe outside

The sun shining, at least for a while, as the rain season, is now. The side street cafes are finally open again, after a while of slumber, now broken. The people coming out, from the darkened rooms, smiling again, as the rain, has past and even if the shining sun is not there to last, they will survive the coming darkness, with this small piece of light. Some of them heading for the cafes, making their picks randomly, without a rush or hesitation, walking slowly out of pleasure of just being outside, in the open wide.

The smallest cafe of them all, with only a few stalls, a table here and there, with a chair of two, and almost hidden from the main view. But those who dare to wonder, a tad longer, will find the most inviting seats of them all, in this small house of coffee, or tea or whatever else the pleasure might just be. The point not being the beverage or the name of the place, rather that in this small house, the patrons, can a few more moments than usual stay, without rush and hurry, but simply in the moment gently sway and then when it’s time to go, that too will happen quite slow.

Seated in blue

“The perfect moment of the day for a respite in blue, on the chair that is“ Gun Roswell

Seated in blue

When the day, working or otherwise is finally done, it is time to have a brief breather, a break. A divider from the planned chores and the hassle of it all, to the quite and calm of the evening, for just a moment doing something completely different and out of the character maybe just acting on a feeling.

The venture to the hidden corners of the streets, into the alleyways deep, and find that small and unmanned spot, where nothing is perfect and just a little off. The cantina only open for a two or more hours and known only by a few patrons, inviting and mostly quite, painted all in the calming and cool blue hues.

This place where invitations are scarce and valid for the limited time, but that is just fine as the time spent there is totally divine. Why? Well, you will know when you get the invitation, use it without hesitation and find out for yourself what it really feels like to be seated in the coolest of joints, in the calming of blue.

Seats for Sundays

“A respite, on a sunny Sunday day, cannot lead anyone, astray” Gun Roswell

Seats for Sundays

Under a decorated window, a fire engine red coloured setup lies
Completely surrounded by flower pots, with various sorts, all of them bright
The comfortable and all so cozy extension of the house painted all white
Inviting all, friend, neighbour and even stranger, to sit, just, for a bit
As on this sunny day of a Sunday, after walking, you really needed, a respite

Two soft looking seats, awaited, in the bar, so modern and totally sleek
It did not take too long, for us tired and thirsty tourists, to sink into them deep
Not wanting to move a muscle, only trying to avoid all that hustle and bustle
Even a wave of the hand seemed a chore, but not wanting to be a total bore
A whistle to the server and soon enough, to sets of drinks were brought to this respite
So totally cool and calm, but mostly, for us, the perfect and best fit

The beckoning, of the bluest of the Mediterranean seas, on this sunny day
Lead the weary tourist, now looking for that perfect respite towards the bay
Where the perfectly made table and two chairs awaited to be seated on
The odours, the smells, of lunch time menus, so inviting and totally strong
It would have been utterly disrespectful and yes, completely wrong
To steer somewhere else and not to take advantage of this risen opportunity
Where taking a load off your feet, combined, with something great, to eat

Seated on Red

“A red seat, in the summer’s heat, nothing more better, on a sunny Sunday” Gun Roswell

Seated on Red

The grass is green, the sky is blue
The seat is red hot, and it fumes
But never mind, as I am so tired
I need a place to rest, before my ass is fired

The seat in the corner there
Beckons me with its red flare
I take a few steps in a fast pace
Hoping no one else, will see the place

Quickly making my move towards it
I reach the red seat by the curve where it sits
Taking one more glance around
And then, I sit down…
Boy, am I glad to have this heavenly red seat to have found!

Seat at the Seashore

A sunny day
Better not. indoors stay
Haul your derrière
To a better frontier
A beach, quiet and calm
The sunshine, like balm
Rest for a while
It is time to redial
Breath from the belly
Try not to be such a tight-ass nelly
Force, a smile
Forget the vile
Let the nature heal
For this moment you steal
And maybe
You get the ability
To load you mind and soul
Get a fill to the upper bowl
When sitting still
On the seat by the seashore

Workaday Seat

When the day at the office
Gets to the point, you could care less
The coffee cold and bitter
And you just want to escape the litter
Then suddenly in the corner of your eye
A perfect respite you spy
Just when you thought you were about to burn
The daily grind takes a better turn
Quickly, making your way
And laying your claim
On the armchair most comfortable
And it even has its own table!
Who said it was all but hard labour?
Now, be a dear and do me a favour
Run downstairs to the cafe
And get me a fresh pot of coffee?

“So many seats to choose from” Gun Roswell

A seat in black and white

A hard wooden seat
Can be a real treat
When lost in a land
You really don’t understand
It may be uncomfortable
But still very affordable
Sitting free
In the bushes under a tree
Or by the ocean
Under the cooling breeze

A seat in black and white

On a sunny day
In a near by cafe
Sitting down
In down town
Sipping on the coffee
Eat a slice of toffee
People passing by
That is just fine
It is still good to unwind
After speeding the dime
All day shopping
And street hopping
Maybe even a nap
You can afterward catch
