Just Another Fabulous Sunrise, Part One

Just another ordinary weekday?
No, it’s a fabulous sunrise day!

The gorgeous rising sun
What could be more fun
Lifting spirits up high
Almost feels like I could fly
What more could be expected
The good spirits soon deflected
For no reason
In this season
People are smiling again

The Erechtheion temple priestesses, Acropolis, Athens, Greece

Acropolis

Four ladies of the temple
Each other do they resemble
The guardians on the porch
Standing tall with their torch
In this place of worship

Delphi

The boy with a chariot
With a look so serious
Horses as beasts of burden
He may be a rich man’s servant
But driving with fervency
Loving his chariot passionately

Rising from the sea
Naked as if bathing
Bearing everything
For the eyes to see
Tourists are watching
Cameras are clicking

“Share each Friday, on your own blog, one photo…or maybe even a gallery of some of your favorite photos that you have taken during the week, that make you smile or that was a great photo capturing opportunity…anything really! And as photographers are often known to say, “The best camera is, the one that you have with you!”

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” Ansel Adams

The highest tower
Like a tall flower
The setting sun deflecting
Last rays on metal reflecting
Silver, yellow and red
Nothing more to be said
This most gorgeous vision

“There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.” Jo Walton

No Ordinary Sunset

Reflecting surfaces
Free of disturbance
Shadows on the walls
Where ever light falls
Red as the colour
Always a stunner

Up in the tower
Feeling empowered
Staring at the horizon
Evermore surprising
The setting of the sun
Was a true home run

It’s only complicated if you are stupid (3 day quote, day three)

complicated definition

“Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated” Confucius

It’s only complicated if you are stupid

Today’s quote is something I ran across a team meeting at work a while back. The quote stuck to me and eventually I had to write a post about it too. It is very humorous as it is accurate and applies to so many aspects of life.

Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world

“Don’t shoot what it looks like, shoot what it feels like” David Alan Harvey

Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world

Photography is a hobby very near and dear to me. I have been shooting pics since I was ten, when I got my first pocket camera by Kodak. I used to make black and white photos in the school photo lab every week and was known as the school “pix snapper”, recording history whenever there was an event or another. Of course in those days, we used film for the cameras and working part time was the best option to get my film rolls. In today’s world, photography is more common of course and easy access to cameras even on mobile phones makes anyone a “photographer”.

After starting my blog this year and posting my photos on Instagram, Flickr and 500px I can totally relate to this quote, since even the English language can be difficult for some to understand, but a photograph seems to be a simple way to share one’s art.

“Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world” Bruno Barbey

Ornate, The Natural History Museum of London

The Daily Post Photo challenge: Ornate

Forget about subdued and restrained. This week, let’s embrace the breathtakingly extravagant.

“A lot of designs are grounded in history even though they tend to be clean and not overly ornate. The sculptural form is often historic. If you come to our exhibit, a lot of things will look familiar” Ellen Lupton

Ornate, The Natural History Museum of London

A building
Filled with beauty and history
A home to many a -logy
Botany, entomology, mineralogy
Paleontology and zoology

You may bump into a dinosaur
But don’t worry, it will not roar
Explore the various galleries
Where many of Earth’s memories
Are housed

Public engagement and education
Plenty of research and curation
The Darwin centre with specimen
The Attenborough Studio for conservation
Plenty to choose from

I am a writer and therefore automatically a suspicious character

I have adopted a quote from a great director and certainly a personality in his own right, Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock.

Using the quote on my blog main page, I consider it to be the utmost homage to Hitchcock. And as life would have it, the quote fits my own personality like a glove 😉
