Coffee, never enough of!

“There certainly is no life, no movement, no nothing without coffee in the early morning hours!” Gun Roswell

Coffee, never enough of!

The one single thing in the world, which makes me out there to get hurled?
Well did you guess what it is? Or do I need to give you a few more hints?
Maybe go and check out what the topic of this ditty was really all about?
Or is it so, that you too, need the something more to get going strong?
As in strong meaning the liquid so totally steaming, it almost burns?
But it won’t hurt, not as much anyway as this is the one thing the lines will blur
The one sustenance you cannot live without or rather be the person all about
Something so fine ever devised, that not even those against it can you rile
As all the while having that cup of that special thing, will make you want to sing
And then a smile maybe emerging so who is anyone against that going to be arguing
After all, isn’t this what we all should thrive to be, smiling and sedate beings?
Well, maybe, but after a cup or few, then maybe none to silent and sedate you’ll be
And hey, we can’t all be those kinds of people as some of us, are made of coffee
As simple as that, as having a chat with a neighbours cat, as with coffee inside your veins
Will make you able the dailies to a feline quite easily explain, as such is the power
Of coffee, and there can never be enough of that kind of offering, and yes, that is the thing

Surviving Monday

“Oh Monday, you are so totally cruel and always come uninvited into my life, what can i do to keep you at bay?“ Gun Roswell

Surviving Monday

The Monday morning had once again arrived
I know it because I can totally smell its pride
Raising the ugly head I now know far to well
And then, there is that, totally fowl smell

You to tempt me to kick your non too rounded arse
As this day, always turns into some odd kind of farce
But if I did not already have this headache
From merely thinking about you to arrive and me break

You always make me numb, avoid of all the fun
Lashing out to me, with something or another
As if this beginning of the week would not already be a struggle
The weekend gone and Friday nowhere in sight, bummer!

But, there is one thing, that could help me pull through
That one single and totally lovely and tasting full brew
The darkest of liquids and the greatest of sustenance
Ever devised by mankind, which has no pretence

It’s simply, well, just great
So go ahead, take a break
For this cup of stuff is no fake
Go, enjoy, your coffee, now!

The Galaxy in a Coffee Cup

“Keep the world in a jar, and the galaxy in a coffee cup” Gun Roswell

The Galaxy in a Coffee Cup

At first, there was, the darkness only
The light, a mere speck, trying to come forth boldly
The universe, just beginning to form
A calm sense all around, like before the storm

And then, without warning, all hell broke loose
Because someone, apparently, had forgotten to turn on the snooze
The coffee maker huffing and puffing, like it was snoring
And in the process, pilling the dark liquid, all over the flooring

For some, this might have been the perfect sign
That all, in the universe, was anything but fine
But for others, it merely meant, that the coffee was spilt
And there would be some effort to clean up the dirt

Alas, the old adage, keeping oneís eggs all in one basket
Might have simply gotten blown the electrical casket
And the lesson learned here might be, that keeping the galaxy
In just one single cup, might not be the best choice up

Or then, just simply, drink your coffee when it’s ready
And do not forget to switch off the machine making it!

The world in a cup of coffee

“There is a time for coffee and that time is anytime possible” Gun Roswell

The world in a cup of coffee

The day, started, just like, any other day
With a steaming cup, of the hottest and darkest liquid, to save
This, tiny soul and eventually, the world

Staring, into the still silence of the whirlwind
Also, still knowing, that something, would soon begin
And, that it, would most likely, change the world

Smelling, inhaling, sipping, enjoying, the total bliss
No matter how much or how often, cannot believe this exists
The total euphoria, I would like to share with the world

But, before all that was going to happen
I am, into this, elixir of life, with full force, tapping
So, for now, the world, will just have to wait
Until the coffee filled blissful state to be hurled

Time for Coffee

“Time for a coffee (or few)” Gun Roswell

Time for Coffee

Running around
Like a mad woman
Dashing, bouncing, skipping, hopping
Looking for something
To be found

Feeling antsy
All the way to my pantsuit
Wondering, probing
The inner me
I then, what do I see

A shop, with coffee
A coffee shop
A place where one can get coffee

I start running
It’s not even that funny
It with my arms flailing
I am the place slowly gaining
Reaching for the door

The smells so wonderful
I think I am in heaven now
As far I walk to the counter
And then place my order

Coffee, please, large

Well worth the wait

“Call it what you will, I call it, a life savior” Gun Roswell

Well worth the wait

I was struggling, I was tired, I was totally beaten
As if life itself, somehow, had me completely cheated
I was anxious but confused, I was restless but still so used up I could hardly move
To be honest, I had completely and utterly lost, my groove
So, now, what to do?

Then, a sweet tempting scent
Up to my nostrils and into my brain went
I felt the lure of the smell so pure
So refined, so totally divine, it could only be something so fine
And i knew then, that without it, I would most certainly, die

Getting up, slowly, but surely walking towards the heavenly scent
Don’t care even if I need to have my last dime spent
But I know I want it, I need it, and I am determined to get it
And as I finally wrap my hands around the most precious gift
I will know, it will well be worth the wait

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee…and some more Coffee

Coffee, Coffee, Coffee…and some more Coffee

Since the dawn of time when humans first dropped down from the trees and started walking, their first trip must have been to the closest Starbucks for some coffee.

Remember the classic film “2001: A Space Odyssey” and first scene where the prehistoric man is bewildered when a big black block lands before him? What if instead of the monolith a giant cup of coffee would have landed? I think we would have evolved much faster and would be more advanced today if that would have been the case 😉

But let’s move forward in time and to present day.

I have dropped in a quite a few suggestions (read request) in our office “suggestion box“: Add to the list of necessary office supplies an IV drop filled with coffee. Each worker would then be hooked into the IV every morning and during the day; a dedicated person would circulate around the office and re-fill the empty ones.

But seriously, coffee is the one good drug that keeps this world up and running. Here is an example of an ordinary working day:

1st cup: 06.00 AM: Eyes barely open reaching for my glasses on the night stand sniffing for that precious aroma. Nothing yet! Half running downstairs praying the automated coffee maker has not suffered from any kind of electrical stroke during the night and my coffee would be there waiting for me.

It is! Hallelujah let the day begin!

2nd cup: 06.20 AM: Morning ablutions behind me, standing fully clothed ready to take off to work, gulping the second cup of coffee while reaching for the door.

3rd cup: 07.00 AM: In the office, turning on the coffee machine before even reaching for the lights in the darkened office. Impatiently waiting while the machine is making its morning sounds before I can insert my coffee capsule into the damned thing and get my coffee (Note: It’s a double shot just to make sure I don’t run out before I can tackle today’s pile of work).

4th to 6th cup: 08.00 to 11.00 AM: A steady flow of “double shots” for each cup to keep up the pace of the day and a smile on my face.

7th cup: 11.30 AM: A cup of coffee to complement a tasty lunch, of course 😉

8th to 9th cup: 12.00 PM to 02.00 PM: One for each scheduled meeting for the afternoon.

10th (to 11th) cup: 02.15 PM: It is finally time for the afternoon coffee break! (In reality this is a very large cup so guess it counts for two or more…).

12th cup: 03.00 PM: Last squeeze (and cup of coffee) before the day’s work is done!

13th cup: 04.00 PM: Time to leave for home, one more for the road…

14th to Umpteenth cup: 05.00 PM to Midnight: After a full day of work, I managed a full hour of exercise, went grocery shopping and vacuumed the whole house. Albeit I was so perked up from all the coffee I managed to get to bed early (around 2 AM) after cleaning a few closets and taking the dog out three times during the evening for a brisk walk and of course, having a cup of coffee here and there; P

The lesson learned: There is no such thing as too much coffee!

By the way, last time I had my yearly check up at the doctors, the conclusion was: there was far too much blood in my caffeine circulation!

Coffee Time

“There is always time for coffee!” Gun Roswell

Coffee Time

A cup in the morning
Before you start yawning
A cup in the middle of the day
Will keep you from dismay
A cup in the evening
Well, it may let you sleep in
(The next day if you stay up all night)

Enjoy it in company
Enjoy it alone
Enjoy it with a sandwich
Enjoy it some more

A cup of coffee
Maybe with a butterscotch toffee
You can never go totally wrong
Especially, when the coffee is strong

Drink your coffee and be merry
Drink the coffee until the cup is empty
Drink when they pour another cup
Drink, yes, it’s coffee, never stop!

To Coffee or not To Coffee?

Posted in Simply Poetry

“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes

To Coffee or not To Coffee?

To coffee, or not to coffee,
Should that really be a question?

A coffee by any other name,
Would smell as sweet

When things get rough
The tough make a cup of coffee

People living in glass houses
Should drink their coffees out of cups

There is no place like home
With a fresh pot of coffee

Like birds of a feather
Two cups of coffee

Monkey see, monkey doo
Monkey drink their coffee too

To whom the bells toll:
It surely is time for a cup of coffee

Easy says as easy does,
Just make that damned cup of coffee!

When in Rome,
Have a cup of coffee!

Come to the dark side
We’ve got lots of coffee!

Coffee.

“Coffee, because I can count the number of slept hours on one hand”

Coffee.

coffee

Coffee.
Why?
Because I barely slept last night.

Coffee.
Why?
Simply to get through this day.

Coffee.
Why?
Because I need some inspiration for my working day, every day.

Coffee.
Why?
Because I need the will power to exercise today and every other day.

Coffee.
Why?
It is the best creation humanity has ever devised.

Coffee.
Why?
I may not always agree with the taste of it. Then again, there is no such thing as bad coffee!

Coffee.
Why?
Because I had to write this damned tale about it!
