Island life

“Sometimes, one simply needs a break from it all.” Gun Roswell

Island life

A small Island, perhaps Greece?
A small piece
Of our very own history
Beyond the centuries
The oldest of towns
Considered the jewel of the crown
Alas the soft sunny beach
At your very reach
Ixia, Kamiros or Lindos
A small drive with the bus
Everything you’ll ever need
On the small island of eternal peace

Painted Cityscape

“Far, in the horizon, is the city, I yearn to visit, some day” Gun Roswell

Painted Cityscape

From the depths of my very mind
I am an image so hard, trying to find
But I also know, as it is one of a kind
It might be just an impossible task to re-find

A dream painted in the back of my head
When or where was this place ever fed
Scanned, permanently, into my visual cortex
I still don’t know, but I am searching the index

If I had the ability within me, I would paint
The image so totally vivid, and so utterly quaint
But alas, I have to rely on my poor memory
And just hoping, this picture, will never fade

Lazy Days

“What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer,
the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months,
and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade”
Gertrude Jekyll

Lazy Days

Sunshine and lazy days
Warmth resting, on my face
Time going, at a slower pace
Hoping, summer, forever stays

Even, if it’s just a window view
Or a perfect image, someone drew
Still, this picture, may just come true
And then, I’ll wear my summer shoes

Solitary (one)

“Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong”
Winston Churchill

Solitary

One solitary flower
Still had the power
To grow
Against the odds
Between a rock
And the hard place

“Solitary trees, if they grow at all, grow strong”
Winston Churchill

Solitary

Sitting pretty
Feeling gritty
In the middle of the city
The tiny yellow flower
That could

Solitary

A solitary sun
Lighting up the blue sky
A solitary tree
Growing in the back yard
A solitary leaf
Turning green
With the other solitary leaves

Out of Jest

Posted in Simply Poetry

“I’ve got it! I’ve got it! The pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with the pestle; the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true! Right?
– No! The pellet with the poison’s in the flagon with the dragon! The vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true!”
– The Court Jester

Out of Jest

Surely, you understood, it was said in jest
After all, this is, what I do best
You see, if I am feeling really depressed
Or even a little stressed
I get very much obsessed
And start writing in rhyme
You know, that thing you can buy a dozen a dime?
But last time I looked, it’s not a crime
And so what, because it makes me feel damned fine
Maybe you too, should try!

Day in Spring

Secret Island

I am living
On a secret island
I just keep smiling
Thinking about
My tiny piece of land
No one can understand
Until they have landed
On this tiny
Place of sand
My land, my island

Day in Spring

Tall Buildings

Tall buildings
Without guildings
Climbing them thrilling
Living in them fullfilling
Working in them chilling
So, there is no winning!

The Spring Blues

Singing, the spring blues
It got spilled, on my shiny new shoes
The weather? I don’t have any clues
I am just sitting here, singing, the spring blues
