Day One: “Warmth” — The Quality of Light

Photography means “drawing with light.” When you take a picture with your camera, you use and record light to create an image. When we’re out and about, we often use the sun — our most abundant light source — to capture our scenes.

“We writers are shy, nocturnal creatures. Push us into the light and the light blinds us” John Banville

Turn on the Lights

“Keep calm and eat cupcakes”
The sign said

Never mind the grapes
We could as well be wearing capes
This lighting is forgiving
To all sizes and shapes

Summer Dwelling (WP Developing Your Eye I)

Day One: “Home” — Get Oriented

When you think of home, what do you imagine? You might picture a house from your past, your favorite neighborhood hangout, or a city you miss. And while home is often found on a map, it can also be less tangible: a loved one, a state of mind, a forgotten time.

“If you go anywhere, even paradise, you will miss your home” Malala Yousafzai

Summer Dwelling

Hidden from prying eyes
In the overgrown garden lies
A cottage made with love
Its owner fits like a glove

Invitations to stay are rare
But once you shown you care
A letter you will get in the mail
Just a few rules you should not fail

Do not smoke in your bed
Always put the tools back into the shed
And should you feel the urge to stay
Leave before the end of the play

“It’s usually our opposites who complement us best, because they’re the only ones who can balance us out.”
― Rachel Hollis, Party Girl

Opposites for The Daily Post

Out with the old
In with the new
Even if it’s made of gold
There’s nothing we can do?

But what if
We change it?
A new coat of paint
To look less quaint?

Looks won’t be deceiving
It’s all in the matter of perceiving
We can hide it
Or even camouflage it

It’s still an old version
Even after the conversion
But we need a little diversion
Even to the strongest aversion

So now, a new lease
And together in peace
With the neighbours of new
And no one says “ew!”

The grey was so dull
It really hurt my skull
Added a dash of colour
Hoping, the sun soon would follow

Peeking behind the dark leaves
Oh what a magnificent view I see
Pretty pink sky at night
It was really well worth the flight

Real life or child’s play?
A concrete and glass ballet?
Or a clever form of masquerade?

Tall is my shadow
On this plateau
Can you see the glow?
As I am starting to grow

Down by the Creek

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the creek
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life will give you a squeak

Jungle

“It’s a jungle out there!”
Tarzan shouted
As he out of the lush forest sprouted

“Someone, please,
Give me some cheese,
And a cup of tea!
Get me out of these leaves
I am sick and tired of striptease!”
