Autumn Leaves

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower” Albert Camus

Autumn Leaves

Bright red, yellow and orange
Just like spring time in Florence
The Autumn leaves are morphing
Like the cooling stars dwarfing
The colours of the trees
As far as eyes can see
Gorgeous and beautiful
More plentiful, more wonderful
Than you could have bargained for
I can hardly wait what more
Autumn has in store

Soft Vision

Poetry and Photography

“My poor vision gives me a soft-focus morning. For the first half hour, I kind of wander through my house, and everything is a blur. I put my contacts in when I’m ready to deal with the world” Carrie Ann Inaba

Soft Vision

Sometimes looking at life
Through soft blurry vision
Is like giving up the strife
Moving towards wisdom
Being out of focus
May sound bogus
But it can really be
A very good thing

Camera Lucida: Autumn Lane

Photography and Poetry: Camera Lucida Photo Challenge

Week Eleven: Autumn Lane

“By all these lovely tokens September days are here, With summer’s best of weather And autumn’s best of cheer” Helen Hunt Jackson

Camera Lucida: Autumn Lane

The view from my window
Almost like a suburban meadow
Nature growing wild and free
Only a glimpse of the road I see
The pathway to our house
Narrow and more fitting for a mouse
Black asphalt with a touch of green
Surrounded by colours more gorgeous
Than I ever seen
Mirror mirror on the wall
Which of the seasons
Is the prettiest of them all
Why Autumn of course
Such a nature’s force

September Contrasts

“Ah, September! You are the doorway to the season that awakens my soul… but I must confess that I love you only because you are a prelude to my beloved October.” Peggy Toney Horton

September Contrasts

The contrasts
Of light and shadow
On each surface cast
Like an arrow
Dividing colour
From the darkness
Still much to discover
In the emptiness
And the colourless

SL-Week 12: Animal

Photo Challenge by SYLVAIN LANDRY

“Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened” Anatole France

SL-Week 12: Animal

The Hedgehog,
Thinking he’s a quard dog
Leaping out of the fog
Putting the fear of god
In everyone who dared to gawk

The Squirrel,
Cute with his tail in spiral
He surely ain’t resting on his laurels
So don’t get into a quarrel
You may end up in turmoil

The Donkey,
He is surely no monkey
But rather the spunky
When he is honking
And hoofs on the ground stomping

Autumn Close-Ups

Photography & Poetry

Posted in response to The Clinic-Photo Rehab hosted by Lucile De Godoy

All right, Mr. DeMille, I’m ready for my close-up” Gloria Swanson in Sunset Boulevard

Autumn Close-Ups

When the nature has shed
Summer’s green
The colours of red
Is all that is seen
Leaves and berries
Even the cherries
Shining brightly
So tread lightly
When stepping into nature

September Moon

Photography & Poetry

Posted in response to The Clinic-Photo Rehab hosted by Lucile De Godoy

“Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star” W. Clement Stone

September Moon

The view from my room
A beautiful crescent moon
Lighting the dark night sky
How I would love to fly
High up, up there
Into the stratosphere
And visit the man on the moon
Like shown in the cartoon

September Sunset

Photography & Poetry

“Keep looking up! I learn from the past, dream about the future and look up. There’s nothing like a beautiful sunset to end a healthy day” Rachel Boston

September Sunset

The evening sky painted red
Unfortunately it was time for bed
But chose to go out instead
And admire the colourful display
Mother nature had sprayed
From her can of colourful paint
Snapped a few pix
Just for the kicks
Before the nightly eclipse

Stormy Weather

“The storm starts, when the drops start dropping. When the drops stop dropping then the storm starts stopping” Dr. Seuss

Stormy Weather

Thunder and lightning
Onto the ground striking
The stormy weather
Bringing hail and rain
Forget the touch of the feather
No more dreams of the sunny
Time to wake up honey
We are not in Spain
Anymore…

September Rain

Photography & Poetry

Posted in response to The Clinic-Photo Rehab hosted by Lucile De Godoy

“If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm” Frank Lane

September Rain

Rain, rain, rain
Falling down the plain
The little droplets
On the surface
Colours of autumn
Fully in blossom
