Posted in celebration of Midsummer and homage to Finns
Midsummer may not be a religious holiday, but it surely is a religion for us Finns 😉
” When in Rome, do as the Romans do”
(Or in this case Helsinki, Oulu, Rovaniemi, Turku, Tampere, Porvoo or basically any Finnish town or village!!!)
Sisu, Sauna and Koskenkorva (Ode to Finns)
Finns, what a nationality
We have quite the ability
To enjoy ourselves
With life’s simple little things
Sauna, heated to at least eighty degrees
Surely hot enough to melt any cheese
Beating each other with branches of birch
Almost as purifying as absolution in a church
Sisu, the spunk, guts and percistence
We have plenty of through out our existance
Rally drivers, Nokia, Linux and the rest
We only deliver the best
Koskenkorva, pure spirit made out of barley
After drinking, don’t ride your Harley
The Swedes may prefer their Vodka
But for the Finns, it’s pure dogma
We have lakes and forrests in abundance
So please come and join us
For a visit in the green of nature
It won’t leave you denatured

Poetry, photography, tales and things that nature!
I like to make the mundane fabulous whenever I can” Rufus Wainwright
Open Sesame
Abracadabra!
How well do you know your algebra?
It is as easy as one, two, three
Even before you can boot your PC
The carriage of comfort
Has lifted you upwards
Your destination dead ahead
Nothing more left to be said

Manic Mundane Monday
Just another Manic Monday
Certainly not my fun day
Back in the office again
Simply cannot explain
It just happens
Always after weekend
Leaving me baffled
I cannot help myself
And leaves me overwhelmed
I just end up here
In this stratosphere
Called work

Panorama
The city panorama
Display filled with drama
Well, at least in the words
Of a known Americana!

Mikonkatu
The busy street for walking
Maybe a little stalking
Well, at least in the pricy shops
If you dare inside them drop
You may loose a shirt or few
And maybe, some money too

Aleksanterinkatu
The fearless leader from Russia
Made such a fuss-ia
Wanted a statue
And a street no less
As a name sake
Oh, we are no fools
And know he was a fake
He had his dues
But I must confess
The names sound kinda cool!

Esplanade
Down the esplanade
We like to parade
With a gentle sway
For a while in the cafes stay
Until summer will fade
And to indoors we will trade

Esplanade Park
The dude in the middle
Is not playing the fiddle
A man of importance
Has taken his forever stance
Petrified in the park
Quite a benchmark
And apparently a seagull
Thought to have some fun
While seated above
Right on the top
Possibly out of love
Or just a photo op

Havis Amanda
The bare naked lady
She’s none too shady
They call her “Manta”
Sounds like Fanta
But she is of royalty
Pledging her our loyalty
At least each May Day
When it is time to play
