The Black Cat
When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat
The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat
After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual
This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail
In honour of Caturday, for all cats everywhere

Cats, cats, cats
I see a lots of cats
Cats over there
And cats over here
Even more cats
They are everywhere
Oh, look at the pretty cat
In the window there
What window, where?
Over there, over here
Even more cats
They are everywhere
In honour of Caturday, for all cats everywhere

“I keep my cat
In my handbag”
Said the old hag
And, with a snag
Lighting a fag
“It’s not a gag,
so just cut me some slack”
She quickly snapped
As she zigzagged
A price tag
Like a yellow flag
Flashing on her ragtag
And out of fashion coat
Stepping into a boat
Flinging in her large tote
The cat sprung out
And onto the float
In a few quick strokes
She rowed across the moat

Cats in stripes
Cats all white
Cats that are black
Cats which are gray
Cats in a six pack
Cats who are stray
Take one home
You’re never alone
The time spent
With your cat
Even if a chat
Is never complicated
And never wasted
