Naturally made Doughnut

“Donuts.
Is there anything they can’t do?”
– Matt Groening

Naturally made Doughnut

Mouth agape
For this round shape
But I won’t break
For its glorious taste

It wasn’t made out of paste
Not with sugar laced
As its round shape I traced
I knew, I would it embrace

Feeling spaced
My nemesis I faced
All inhibitions erased
And soon, I was in need, of toothpaste

Luminous

Posted in Simply Poetry

“To me, life, for all its privations,
is a luminous thing.
You have to risk it.”
Jeanette Winterson

Luminous

Illuminated
Elated
Dedicated
Awaited

Luminous things of nature
In this frozen portraiture
Not just a summer’s feature
But living, breathing creatures

Fated
Sacred
Created
Illuminated

Life in a Fishbowl

Posted in Simply Poetry

“There’s such a fragile, thin veneer of illusion between the words “together” and “alone”.”
― Bradley Somer, Fishbowl

Life in a Fishbowl

Feeling glamourous
Standing tall
In this tiny fishbowl
I call home

Not so average
These see-through walls
Like a giant peep hole
In the twilight zone

Needing some leverage
I built a space small
Where my tired soul
Had time for its own

Now the damage
Of this famous ball
Is under control
And I, am finally, alone

Hanging Together

“Alone we can do so little;
together we can do so much”
Helen Keller

Hanging Together

Together, on this branch
Together, we all dance
Together, by chance
Together, has an advance
Together, us unlikely plants
Together, we will cause
The biggest avalanche…

…Well, at least, that’s the plan!

Colourful, aren’t We?

Posted in Simply Poetry

“The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love colour the most”
John Ruskin

Colourful, aren’t We?

There can never be
Too much of colour
Bringing out, the best in me
As I out loud holler

Colour in the Shadows

“I know that if odour were visible, as colour is,
I’d see the summer garden in rainbow clouds”
Robert Bridges

Colour in the Shadows

There it lurks
In the deep dark shadows
Soon bursting out, in fireworks
In one big colourful pose

Christmas in Summer

Posted in Simply Poetry

“Green was the silence, wet was the light,
the month of June trembled like a butterfly.”
― Pablo Neruda

Christmas in Summer

It’s almost, like Christmas
In the month of June
Nature, ever so fearless
When summer, came so soon

Reds and greens
Pretty, in every scene
Something, unseen
On this, widest of screens

Is it live or memorex?
It’s as good, as any guess
But wouldn’t settle, for less
After all, the winter was, a big mess

Enjoy it, while it lasts
For this season, too, will pass
And if there is any chance
Record it all, en mass

Game’s aFoot

“Before the game is afoot, thou still let’st slip”
William Shakespeare

Game’s aFoot

There is no shame
In playing the game
Trying to court fame

But just remember
Before you go on this bender
You loose some, or you may lose more

Who am I?

Posted in Simply Poetry

“The road to hell is paved with works-in-progress.”
—Philip Roth

Who am I?

They call me odd
They call me weird
I say: “off you sod”
I still won’t stop!

Writing, writing, writing
Hard at least trying
Fighting, fighting, fighting
My daily life be damned!

I may be odd
I may be weird
Maybe some day
I will get my pay

For dreaming the impossible
Is it really that unusual?
There may be some obstacles
But in the end, there may be applause

And then
I can call myself
