Ciphered code:
2017 06 27 52

A lottery number?
You may have won!
No, not in this mode
Just fall back to slumber

Nothing too cryptic
Nothing remotely close to apocalyptic
But, a date of some importance
At least for where I take my stance

Today, turning fifty one
Feeling, like a phaser on stun
Pardon the Star Trek pun
Being La Gun, is still lots of fun

So:
Happy Birthday to me-ee!

Shoes on the Side

Posted in Daily Photo/Tales of Tiny

“You can never have too many pairs of shoes!”
Gun Roswell

Shoes on the Side

Shoes, are the essence of life
(it’s like breathing in and breathing out)

Shoes, will get you through a fight
(especially if you’re wearing stilettos)

Shoes, are never unkind
(unless you are breaking in a new pair! just remember to have band aid to spare!)

Shoes, will help you unwind
(those comfy old ones, you just did not dare to throw away)

Shoes, are always on my mind
(I wear them, I buy them, I store them, I admire them…)

Shoes, will alternately save mankind
(well it could not hurt if the world leaders talked about their new shiny shoes instead of all the nasty things that are going on, could it now!)

If you don’t have any shoes
Then snooze, you loose!

Closed for Summer

Posted in Daily Photo/Tales of Tiny

“What good is the warmth of summer,
without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.”
― John Steinbeck

Closed for Summer

The sign stated boldly:
“Closed for summer”

Oh, what an unexpected bummer!
And here, I rented this hummer
To roam around the countryside
In a built up haze of wonder!

Pacing around the yard
Knowing full well I could not get far
A smile upon my face
Yes, this is the place
I would make my case

“What if I just break in?
Surely, that would not be a great sin?
After squatting for a week or two,
Just leave a kind thank you note and a payment too?
That would teach them a lesson
Not with the tourist of summer to be messin'”

“Closed for summer my derrière!
From now on, this summer just got merrier!”

Focus (two)

Posted in The Daily Post : Focus

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus”
Mark Twain

Focus

Spending the late time watching
Out of the window a glimpse catching
Behind the safety of the glass
Hoping the rain pour would not last

Suburban streets dark and damp
Not even the brightest street lamps
Could brighten up the lonely night
The storm was now, in full mode of fight

Focus (one)

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus”
Mark Twain

Focus

“Focus”
She cried out loud

“Just zoom in, and focus!”

In front of them, an odd vision
Like some kind of a blurry apparition
It was soft, round and yellow
Like some hound from the old hell-o
The two snappers
Standing scared of their crappers

“Did you get it on film?”
She whispered

“Sure did!”
Her companion whispered back
“Now, let’s get the heck out of here
Before that thing comes after us!”

Lazy Days

Posted in Daily Photo

“What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer,
the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months,
and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade”
Gertrude Jekyll

Lazy Days

Sunshine and lazy days
Warmth resting, on my face
Time going, at a slower pace
Hoping, summer, forever stays

Even, if it’s just a window view
Or a perfect image, someone drew
Still, this picture, may just come true
And then, I’ll wear my summer shoes

What, is Poetry?

Posted in Simply Poetry

“Poetry is just the evidence of life.
If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash.
― Leonard Cohen

What, is Poetry?

What, is poetry?
A bird singing in the trees
A child playing in the streets
A loved one being seen

What, is poetry?
Rain fall, on a summer’s day
A relative, who came to stay
A new kitten, hard at play

What, is poetry?
A new shiny handbag
A day of feeling sad
Good company, in your tiny flat

What, is poetry?
A shadow on the wall at night
A choice to leave from a fight
Someone’s whisper, of a word of kind

What, is poetry?
A fading memory, making you smile
An old song, making you want to jive
A co-worker, giving you a high five

What, is poetry?
A beautiful display, outside the window
A messy hair, where the wind blows
Success, when you finally learnt to sow

What, is poetry?
Simply life,
With a touch of strife
And whether you choose, to smile

Order (six)

Order (TDP)

Did you order a seat in the Sun or Shadow?

“Welcome Madam
My name is Adam
I will be your host
For this evening most
Did you want to place your order?
Maybe sit on the sunny side
Or the shadows now taller?
What ever you choose
There is no way you lose
Be your order
Tall or shorter”

Order (TDP)

Pipes are Piping, in Order

When the pipes are piping
The tears are a wiping
There is no room for fighting
Just the orderly sound
Of those pipes a piping

Order (TDP)

One Size Fits: Order Now!

“One size fits all!
Order now and go to the ball!”

The ad kept on repeating
My shoe desire re-heating

Boiling,
Thinking myself spoiling
Finally
And quite decidedly:

“What do I have to lose?

For when in Greece,
Enjoy the streets
In a nice pair
Of new leather shoes
