Just another foggy day in July

“The weather gods don’t seem too pleased with us?” Gun Roswell

If you expected sunshine,
Sitting on a terrace
With a cool glass of wine
And feeling, just fine

Then,
I hate to disappoint
Dearie,
But it seems,
The odds
Are heavily
Against you

The weather gods
Decided their jobs
Was to make you sob

Like the true sociopaths
Bringing on their wrath
Even if you did not need a bath

But soaking wet
Soon you’ll be
If you think
The game is set
Maybe
It is time to flee

Or then

Just forget,
The bummer
After all
It is summer
And just
Another day
In July

Happy 55th Birthday to My Better Half

“My life, I realize suddenly, is July. Childhood is June, and old age is August, but here it is, July, and my life, this year, is July inside of July” Rick Bass

Happy 55th Birthday to My Better Half

Nineteen
Sixty-one
A year filled
With lots of fun
Brought
Forth
A July’s child
Quit the wild
Born with
The biggest smile

This July
All grown up
But at heart
Still
A young pup
Ready to fly
High as the sky
But never without
That wide smile

Sky’s Gray Shroud

Photography and Poetry

“Gray skies are just clouds passing over” Duke Ellington

Sky’s Gray Shroud

Up up high
Grayness, filling the sky
Wrapping it tight
Dark as night
Into a shroud
Filled with clouds

Picnic in July, Finnish style

Poetry and Photography

“In the bible it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. They called it disaster. In Finland we call it summer!”

Picnic in July, Finnish style

Going on a picnic
Come snow, hail or shine
After all, it is still July
Hoping not to get sick
Sitting on the beach
Shivering with cold
The warmth at arms reach
It’s summer I was told
Not time for mission abort
Should not have worn shorts
The rain soon falls
Drops like thick walls
Clothes getting wetter
Running to shelter
Looking for a hide
Getting inside
Cold and wet
And unfed
Cursing and swearing
Of this life unfairing
Looking outside again
Hoping no more rain
What the f…k?
The sun is back up!

Cloudy with a chance of Rain, Part 2

Photography

Continuing with todays theme of clouds in the sky, with a slight expectancy of rain and with the option of thunder 😉

Location: Finland, Espoo, Keilasatama (my spot for lunch break 😛 )

Cloudy with a chance of Rain

Photography & Poetry

“Conversation about the weather is the last refuge of the unimaginative” Oscar Wilde

Cloudy with a chance of Rain

Cloudy, with a chance of rain
No, we’re definitely not in Spain
Seems to be a repeating pattern
Maybe a joke by the Mad Hatter

Be careful to not get a frost bite
When you dip your toe into the lake
Or you might end up in a plight
And a most terrible ache

A summer’s day in July
Eyes focused on the sky
Clouds moving to the wind
Cold breeze on my skin

Should have worn a jacket
“But it’s summer” I quote with “brackets”
Let’s open the packets
And bring out the rackets

Summer madness or fun
Maybe we’ll see the sun
Before the day is done
And we have to run

So let’s enjoy this time of year
Without any doubt or fear
The winter soon enough is here
And the summer mood will disappear

A Day in July

Photography & Poetry

“Hello July, please be good!”

A Day in July

Woke up to another day in July
All our hopes were quite high
Expectation was for sunshine
Alas, it had been declined
Instead what was delivered
Left us quite bewildered

Thunder and rain
Oh what a pain
Lips curled in disdain
Nerves quite strained
Maybe take a train
And head for Spain
