Crossing the Icy Lake

“A cold and crispy day, but sunshine warming up the display of the outside looking inviting, for a stroll on the lake“ Gun Roswell

The sunny day beckoned towards the open waters, only they weren’t as open this time of year, rather frozen solid like the rest of nature.

The snow covering the surface of ice, thick, which in a way is safe and nice, especially for those taking a shortcut across the lake.

The tracks there found  by so many others gone there before, taking a leisurely stroll or hurrying to work, and the one perk of enjoying the scenery while doing so.

But for those having the time, simply enjoying the warming sunshine in the midst of the coldest of winters, is something totally divine.

House by the lake is no fake

Living by a body of water, certainly is on the bucket list of plenty of dwellers, but yeah, it would be totally great live there“ Gun Roswell

Helsinki, Finland

A house, built on top of the rocky hill, gives the onlooker chills, as it’s just by a cool looking lake, and that kind of a place, is just the best, at least during the seasons where the temperatures are warm and totally nice, the weather somewhat mild, and chilling down by the calming lake, well, there really is no better place, for spring or summer.

But, when the damp and cold October winds start, the house by the lake is starting to feel less of a place nice, with the howling winds and pouring rain, leaving a bunch of stains all over, the cold seething into the old bones… but the warming fires inside and out, keep them warm way into the darkest of nights, making the feel and looks all cozy without a fright.

And then soon enough, it is winter time, the freezing ice covering the lake, and then things don’t look as loaded with strife, as the old skates come off the hook, taking it out there on the lake, swirling around on the icy cover on a sunny but cold day, and hey, all bundled up and prepared, the house by the lake is simply great, no matter the season, so yeah, no complaints!

A Trip to the Lake

Sailing at Last!

Sails are hoisted, I feel elevated
Here at the helm, I am under a spell
Chanting sea songs, keeping me strong
I am finally going, to be a mermaid, no seamen after all!

Sailing, sailing,
Over the bountiful lake
Oh, for heaven’s sake
Keep the noise level at bay
As we are sailing
Across this calm lake!

Nothing but calm on the water surface
Direction unknown, but it will be known
When we reach there, where ever it may be
Time will tell, and then we will see

Pick a Ride

Which ride to pick, is a dilemma indeed
There are so many boats as far as I can see
Small boats, big boats, oars, sails, I know I will fail
Unless something easy comes around
And then, I will make it off this sandy ground
Into the open seas, or lakeside, yes indeed!

When I have finally chosen the vessel
As I am boarding the boat, I am getting my chisel
Carving it to a stone tablet, this is really happening
I am going out to the water edge
As I so long ago to myself pledge
Now it is happening for real, and I am becoming one with the sea

A Trip to the Lake

Which way is the Harbour?

Finding my way, but must to my dismay
I seem to be lost in the labyrinths of the coast
The tall buildings and narrow roads
Have confused my senses, and so

I am looking for a resident member
Of this community, hoping a lender
Of a helping hand to guide me
Through the maze ever surrounding

Finally, a friendly face
I am able to find in this place
Aiding me to navigate, towards the gate
I am finally out, and the harbor,
Well, it was just around, the corner!

Defying the Weather

Trying so very hard to ignore
What the weather gods have in store
Looking through the window shield
As the dark clouds arise from the field

Driving ever faster, beating the storms on this trip
The road getting plastered, as the rainy drops drip
The goal is just around the horizon, but cannot stop the rising
Of the darkening skies, no matter how hard I try

The petal is on the metal, the tires are a screeching
But yes, I am my destination reaching
Despite being drenched, from the waters around the bend
But never mind the weather, as I am here, in this place special

Experiencing the surroundings
In the colours of black and white
You may find it quite astounding
How well it works in this light!

Time for a quick fishing trip
Maybe not choose the tallest ship
You may find a little boat a perfect fit
And really most well equipped!

This scenery,
Like something
From your mind’s imaginary
Dark clouds
Looming over the waters
Like shrouds
Just don’t shout
Too loud
You may scare
The locals!
