Monday for Mundane Monday

“There’s something that’s really fun about the challenge of making the mundane funny, too, I think”
Jim Gaffigan

Metal, Wood, Clouds and Sky

metal-clouds-sky-sun

The four elements of nature,
Or as defined by us lowly creatures:

Metal: Heavy music, or durable material for construction
Wood: Good for building and nice for shade
Clouds: Fluffy and white, but sometimes grey
Sky: Blue, if you are lucky, grey if it rains

A Bench to Sit on

“I don’t generally like running. I believe in training by rising gently up and down from the bench” Satchel Paige

A Bench to Sit on

I was looking for
A bench to sit on
What I hoped to score
Something close to a lawn
To lay my tired self
On a softer shelf

Then I saw it
The bench, made of stone
When I tried to sit
I felt it to my bones
Too hard for a fit!

Moving forward
I found one, made of wood
Maybe it wasn’t hard
Rather suitably good
Too soft for a fit!

So once again
I had to complain
But I knew, the right seat
Was just in reach
I just had to seek

A little while longer
As I moved along
The feeling now stronger
I knew it wouldn’t be long
I was close to finding
As I saw the metal shining

I finally found it
A bench made of metal
For me to sit
Soft as a petal
A purr-fect fit

Take a Load off

A bench of stone, wood or wire
Can get you out of the dire
When feeling spent and tired
Take a load off and enjoy the fire

“Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.” George Eliot

The Odds and End of an October’s Day, Part Two

The odds and ends
This theme extends
Another mundane Monday
It’s not just an other week day
But a time for little things
Which much joy will bring

CAMERA LUCIDA – METAL

Posted in week #12 of Camera Lucida Photo Challenge, Metal

“a solid material which is typically hard, shiny, malleable, fusible, and ductile, with good electrical and thermal conductivity (e.g. iron, gold, silver, and aluminium, and alloys such as steel).
broken stone for use in road-making.
“the work also involves dealing with rock aggregates for potential use as suitable road metal”

“I have metal in my body, so every time I go to an airport, the metal detector goes off” Jesse Ventura

‘CAMERA LUCIDA’ – METAL

Silver, copper, rust
Maybe even a little dust

Streetlights built of heavy metal
Into the lift, no need for pedals

Old machines getting a new start
As being cultured objet d’arts

The strongest of coffees
Brewed in a rusted pot

Down the drain the water flows
Where it goes, no one knows

Poetry and Photography
Photo challenge for PhoTrabloggers Mundane Monday

“This is a challenge created to find beauty in almost everything. The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.”

“Our daily lives are so mundane, we get taken over by what is immediately in front of us and we don’t see beyond that” Benedict Cumberbatch

Mundane Monday, 2015-10-19

She is standing tall
Hoping never to fall
Slicing the sky
Beautiful to the eye
In silver and blue
Didn’t have a clue
Until the sun’s reflection
Caught my attention
A mundane object?
Or something perfect?
