Autumn Time

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower” Albert Camus

Autumn Time

The daylight is getting shorter
The darkness is getting longer
The skies are turning into gray
But, nature has a funny way
To cheer us up when we are down
Turn our lips into an upside frown
The colours revealed in abundance
Soon will turn the reluctance
Into joy and wonderment
Stop for this moment
And leave us in an awe

“My favourite poem is the one that starts ‘Thirty days hath September’ because it actually tells you something” Groucho Marx

September

Oh bitter sweet September
The time for splendor
The nature soon covered
With a variety of beautiful colours
The illusion of warmth
Before the storm

Gun’s Travel Log: Greece – Rhodes Island 18

“Happy is the man, I thought, who, before dying, has the good fortune to sail the Aegean sea” Nikos Kazantzakis, Zorba the Greek

Bye, bye beautiful island
It may not be my home land
But I promise once more to return
When the travel fever starts to burn
And I will start to yearn
Of the blue and turquoise sea
As far as the eye can see
Even though a Finn
Still loving the fun
And the warmth of the sun
On my skin
So maybe next year
You will see and hear
Me returning to this island

Today was the last day of the holiday and sadly tomorrow morning we will take off.
Relaxing in the warmth of the sun and snapping a few memories in the near surroundings was all on the agenda.

Basking in the sun
What could be more fun
I can think of none
Last day of holiday
Luckily on a sunny day
Tomorrow we’ll be on our way
On the plane back home we’ll fly
To our friends we’ll say goodbye
There will be no dry eye
The skies briefly turned gray
As if to sadly say
For a while more stay
But, in the end
The time spent
Was a holiday to recommend

August Rain, Photography and Poetry

Photography and Poetry

“In August most of Europe goes on holiday” Tony Visconti

August Rain

The light droplets of rain
Falling onto the open plane
The air cool and crisp
The wind but a wisp
The nature lush and green
Everything new and clean

“August brings into sharp focus and a furious boil everything I’ve been listening to in the late spring and summer” Henry Rollins

August Nature

The last warm days
Before the cold rains
It is time to prepare
But do not despair
Summer may be ending
The nature surely changing
Soon it will be autumn
But the colours
Will be awesome

When it Rains it Pours

“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow” Gilbert K. Chesterton

When it Rains it Pours

The rain came down a pouring
The sound loud as roaring
Frozen drops, balls of hail
No time to stop and flail
Pounding hard onto the ground
A safe harbour needs to be found
The nature showing it’s full force
When it rains, then it pours

“Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that’s creativity” Charles Mingus

Sitting in My usual Place

I was sitting in my usual place today
Watching the clouds changing shape in many ways
Caught up in nature’s gorgeous display
I almost forgot my own part to play
I finally tore myself away for a moment
And snapped a few for your enjoyment

kuin kotimaa tää pohjoinen,
maa kallis isien.”
