“Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still” Dorothea Lange

Favourite Photo Of the Week

So many to choose from
I don’t even know
Where they all come from
But I guess it is the how
I am the only one to blame
If some of them gets the fame
This is what I chose this week
Hope it is what you all seek

In honour of Caturday, for all cats everywhere

“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere” Groucho Marx

Caturday, 2015-10-24

When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat

The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat

After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual

This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail

Homage to Sir Derek Jacobi

An homage to the one and only Sir Derek Jacobi, Many Happy Returns!

203_1img_9131_derek_jacobi_port_print

“Actors, I don’t think, ever really grow up. I’m hoping that that rejuvenating process applies to me, too. It has so far. I’ve been very lucky” Derek Jacobi

Homage to Sir Derek Jacobi

Loved you in Claudius
Adored you in Octavius
Excellent performance in Cadfael
Utterly radiant in Halifax
And completely hilarious in Vicious

On this special day
An homage I’d like to pay
With wishes most sincere
To an actor utterly revered
Sir Derek Jacobi

Fabulous Friday

“I understand what’s it like to work all week and on Friday night just want to go and leave your brain at the door, buy some popcorn and be thrilled by something” Don Cheadle

Fabulous Friday

sparkly wine 2    strawberries

Leaving the working week far behind
I really have no idea how I ever survived
Fabulous Friday knocking at the door
Awaiting to carry me to a different shore

A glittering sequin dress, a pair of high heels
This is as good as it gets and feels
Leave your sad face and the bad place
Awaited Fabulous Friday is finally here

Prancing, dancing
Singing, winning
There is no stopping us
Well, not at least until the bus
Has arrived to take us home

SL WEEK 16: Alone

A response to Sylvain’s challenge theme of communications
“It is far better to be alone, than to be in bad company” George Washington

SL WEEK 16: Alone

Deep in thought
Not a soul in sight
This is how I prefer it
At least sometimes

alone-1

With my hand extended
Still feel I am invisible
That is how others prefer it
At least sometimes

alone-3

Standing tall all in white
People ignoring, passing by
Not that I mind it
At least sometimes

alone-2

The empty seat
I felt beat
So I left it behind
This time

October Morning Frost

“But frost, like the crystallized dreams of autumn, began to coat the clearing with its sugar glaze.” Victoria Steele Logue, Redemption

October Morning Frost

Nature in pending status
Almost like being on hiatus
Leaves of multicolour
Covered with sugary frost
The misty air softly hovers
Over last night’s rain drops
Now frozen in their spots
A glimmer of sunlight
The only a reflection in sight
Soon enough the colour fades
The frost of rain only remains
And the Autumn turns
To Winter

“A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it”
George A. Moore

World Wide Wednesday Presents: Finland, Espoo Suburbia

When you travel around the world, how many times upon return have you commented: “Well, that was fun, but home sweet home!”
Today a trip of a different kind
It’s surprising what you can find
When stepping, outside your door
Amazing, what beauty to score

The grass may be greener
On the other side of the fence
But sometimes you may be keener
To save a few more cents

Pick up the pace and lift your feet
Wander down your home street
The mundane soon turns to treasure
Leaving you with feelings of pleasure

So when not in Rome
Safe in home sweet home

The days are getting shorter
Reflections on the water
The last of the reminders
Of the times much kinder

The games of summer played
The tanned skin to rest laid
Tall shadows now displayed
Soon enough will fade

Because,
When in October
The cold shoulder
Of winter
Soon will reenter

Just another ordinary day
A day at the office
Blue for the skies
Blue for the thoughts
Looking out the window
Weather getting brighter
Mood is getting lighter
No time to hesitate
Out for a quick break
Sunshine and cool weather
What could be better
