Home sweet dump

“Ainʼt nothing like home sweet dump” Gun Roswell

Home sweet dump

After a longest time of travelling
It all comes unravelling
When you reach that final destination
Namely back at home, pause, for a long hesitation
Why did I ever leave this place
As nothing here changed remains
The house, the things, all the problems I left behind
To venture out there to unwind
The other places I search long and hard
Were none too different or even smart
But I kept looking for so long
Hoping to find something more
Something else going on
Alas, nothing better, only different did I find
Some experiences worse, some more kind
So now, here I stand with my two bags
In my tired and sore hands
Looking at the place I called home
And it seems this place is hard coded in my very bones

Sepia

“Without poetry, stories would be told in sepia”
Ellen Hopkins

Sepia

The faded colour
A reminder of the past
Many nuances to discover
Monochrome to last

Once a colourful picture
A photographer’s signature
Now, maybe a work of art
Or close to someones heart

“I see that it is by no means useless to travel,
if a man wants to see something new”
Jules Verne

Around the World in Black and White

In the rain forest of Brazil
You can feel the thrill
Sailing down the river Negro
Quite the incognito
Catch a glimpse of the dolphins
Can rise the endorphins

“I see that it is by no means useless to travel,
if a man wants to see something new”
Jules Verne

Around the World in Black and White

Planning on staying a while
On the beautiful isle
That of Cyprus
Home to many a cypress
The surrounding seas of turquoise
Swimming around like the tortoise

After the Storm

Posted in Throwback Thursday: Treasures from the archives

“After a storm comes a calm”
Matthew Henry

After the Storm

After the storm
Everything is calm
Surrounded by silence
When roaming the island
Not a soul in sight
A sole bird in flight
The scent of nature
The intoxicating mixture
Enhanced by rain
Hard to restrain
My rejoicement

Around the World in Black and White

Enjoying the island life
Dancing to a flute or a fife
Whether a history buff
Or a hang loose beach bum
Rhodes is the place enough
To make you wanna hum

“The sea, once it casts its spell,
holds one in its net of wonder forever”
Jacques Yves Cousteau

I still remember
That one September
The bluest of skies
And it was warmer than July
The water clear and inviting
The air soft and delighting
Not a worry in sight
Everything quite right
In the distance
For an instance
A boat or two
Disappearing from the view
Most tourists already gone
Leaving us alone
Enjoying in peace
With a short lease
The last rays of summer

Under the Sun

“Necessity… the mother of invention”
Plato

Under the Sun

When all is said and done
Enjoying the sea and the sun
Finally, having lots of fun
Though, there is one pun
It all happened in Greece
Before they took a lease
On their little piece of heaven
Always open twenty-four seven
But, alas the play will still continue
And I hope to this wonderful venue
End up
Soon enough
