Hungry Hungry Triffids

The hungry hungry Triffids
Came out for a midday play
They may look horrific
But boy can they sway
So let the music play
And with us for a while stay!

Honk if you like Red

“Look at my snout”
The pretty red gave a shout
Good reminder:
I thought it was a trout!

Alien Plant Life

“Aliens have landed!
Aliens have landed!”

“Oh shush!
It’s just your friendly neighbourhood flowering.
And it’s nothing if not boring!”

thorn-1

“But he that dares not grasp the thorn Should never crave the rose” Anne Bronte

Thorn in my side (Daily Photo)

“Come closer, so I may see you better” the little plant whispered

I hesitated for a moment, after all, the thorns looked very sharp

As if sensing my hesitation, the plant continued:
“It’s ok, my dear, I won’t hurt you”

I smiled and stepped closer. I was in awe, mezmerized by the beauty before me.
As in a haze, I watched my hand getting closer and closer to the inviting thorns…
And before I realized what had happened, it was already too late.
I had been pricked, with a deadly poison.

Photography & Poetry: Darkness and Light

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it” Edith Wharton

Darkness and Light

Lurking in the shadows
In the darkest of places
A fleck of light emerges
Reaching out proudly
Out to the meadows
Up to the heavens
To the farthest corners
Daylight reaches
Without any breaches

Darkness and Light
Together they walk
Like Day and Night
