“The judge told me to approach the bench. We were in a park”Jarod Kintz,

Painted Red

The only bright spot
In the entire parking lot
In the midst of suburbia
Causing a minor hysteria
The colour of reddest red
Some say, it joy may spread

Carefully trying to sit
Just to see, if it is a fit
After I little while
I started to smile
The colour seemed to be
A perfect choice for me

And soon enough…
As far as the eye could see
All the red painted seats
Were occupied to the extreme

There is something to be said
Of the colour red
It never leaves you cold
Yes, and I too was sold

Just Another Fabulous Sunrise, Part One

Just another ordinary weekday?
No, it’s a fabulous sunrise day!

The gorgeous rising sun
What could be more fun
Lifting spirits up high
Almost feels like I could fly
What more could be expected
The good spirits soon deflected
For no reason
In this season
People are smiling again

Caturday, 2015-11-14

In honour of Caturday, for all cats everywhere

“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere” Groucho Marx

Caturday, 2015-10-24

When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat

The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat

After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual

This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail

“Share each Friday, on your own blog, one photo…or maybe even a gallery of some of your favorite photos that you have taken during the week, that make you smile or that was a great photo capturing opportunity…anything really! And as photographers are often known to say, “The best camera is, the one that you have with you!”

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” Ansel Adams

Favourite Photo of the Week, 2015-11-13

The highest tower
Like a tall flower
The setting sun deflecting
Last rays on metal reflecting
Silver, yellow and red
Nothing more to be said
This most gorgeous vision
Selection done by decision
For your viewing pleasure
So, do, value this treasure

Writing 101, Day Nine: Writing and not writing

Writing 101, Day Nine: Writing and not writing

If you write often or for a living, it’s important to take breaks — to live your life and have new experiences, and to reflect and recharge so you can come back to your desk, ready to hit the keyboard again. Not writing allows you to gain the distance from your words, and thus perspective, which are both needed when it’s time to edit.

Being active every day makes it easier to hear that inner voice.
— Haruki Murakami, What I Talk About When I Talk About Running

Write every day, but don’t put your life on hold . . .
— Vincent Mars, “Writing as a Way of Life”

What do you do when you’re not writing? How do you reset and return to this dashboard, refreshed? What do you need in your day-to-day life to maintain balance: Running? Yoga? Gardening? Painting? Cooking?

If you’re not a full-time writer, or if your day is so full of other tasks that you have little time to write, consider these alternative questions: if you could step into a machine that gave you more time, how would you structure your day? What would you write with this extra time?

You have an additional task for the day. Reach out to someone for an interview or collaboration. This person can be a Blogging U. participant, a blogger on WordPress.com or another platform, or anyone else whose work you admire. For planning purposes, this post will run on Day 19.

Working in the coal mine
Daily routine from nine to nine
Pulling twelve hour shifts
Desperately needing a face lift

Waiting for the bell to ring
Then it will be time to sing
Riding in the heavy traffic
Seeing something photographic

Mind finally free to unwind
Thoughts starting to find a rhyme
In through the front door
No time for a quick snore

Laptop booting with a chirp
Gulping food with a quick slurp
Fingers running on the keyboard
Like riding fast on a skateboard

Trying to type as fast as possible
Beating the odds and timetable
The night has fallen dark outside
Trying to complete all tasks with pride

Hearing the clock beep
No time for rest or sleep
Soon an other day breaks
Trying to remain awake

Coffee, coffee, coffee
Finally finished my story
Time for another working day
To earn my keep and get paid

If I only had a time machine
To extend the time between
I would write, write, write
Finally an ending in sight

Tasks long ignored, now complete
Because I did not have to compete
With real life obligations
Chewing up on my patience

For now,
Only in my dreams
Am I really redeemed
And a celebrated writer
One of the mightier

“There’s a sunrise and a sunset every single day, and they’re absolutely free. Don’t miss so many of them.” Jo Walton

No Ordinary Sunset

Reflecting surfaces
Free of disturbance
Shadows on the walls
Where ever light falls
Red as the colour
Always a stunner

Up in the tower
Feeling empowered
Staring at the horizon
Evermore surprising
The setting of the sun
Was a true home run

If There is a Wrong Place and a Wrong Time, I’ll be There (Repost for TBT)

“Not fitting in just means you’re in the wrong place”

If There is a Wrong Place and a Wrong Time, I’ll be There

A sale of shoes
Small sizes only
feeling bold
Into the men’s section
I wandered
No time to loose
A nice pair of boots
Fitting like a glove
I am in love
A passer by
Asks me to pose
For a picture
To be a feature
In the paper

In my raggedy jeans
Crashing a party
Of the cocktail kind
A piece of a pie
Instructing all to jive
I was an
Overnight sensation
Even without
The proper presentation
Dancing the night away
With a hip and a sway

In my way to a show
My face in a glow
Hoping premium seats to score
Then a let down
All sold out
Feeling like clown
My face in a frown
Life is a bore

Sitting in the entry way
Sobbing
‘Hey lady’ I hear
Can you sing?
In my mind a ding
My heart is throbbing
Without remorse
I join the chorus
Singing my heart out
Without a doubt
The best night
Of my entire life
Despite the lack
Of several facts
I can’t dance, act or even sing

Highway to Hell (Repost for TBT)

“If you’re going through hell, keep going” Winston Churchill

Highway to Hell

You are on
The fast track
The last track
On a highway
To hell

Intensive pressure
Needing a refresher
Competitive pursuit
Of fame and fortune
Dancing to someone else’s flute
May end up a misfortune
If not stopping
Until you drop

The smart life
The simple life
The only life
You should choose
Before your goose
Is cooked
And you will loose
And get hooked
