SHAKESPEARE

“The empty vessel makes the loudest sound” William Shakespeare

Quote a Week Tuesday: 2016-03-14

I have often been teased about my totally “empty desk” at work and when this quote caught my eye today, I could not help laughing out loud, and for quite a while I might add 😉 Well, if the shoe fits…

“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”    Albert Einstein

“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer” Sun Tzu

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-03-08

For this week’s quote, I have chosen the adage of friends versus enemies. Most of us may have found out who your true friends are, when push comes to shove.

Therefore, the original version of keeping one’s enemies closer easily translates to this humorous version of

“With friends like that who needs enemas?”

“Work, really? Again? Didn’t I just do that yesterday?

Quote a Week Tuesday: 2016-03-01

Work, what can I say? Can’t live with it, can’t live with it 😉

Getting into a right frame of mind at work, especially when the cups are overflowing every which way and the better part of the day spent either firefighting or tilting against windmills. The one thing you need to remember, well several things actually, but if you are working in a “desk job” as a payed employee, it’s just work and five o’clock will arrive at some point of the day!

Therefore, while getting into that good place in my mind before ending up in a straight jacket, I decided to look into the humorous side of the working life 😛 After all, if a laugh a day keeps the good doctor away, maybe a few more will save the rest of the week!
Here are a few gems I found in order of appearance:

“I like work; it fascinates me. I can sit and look at it for hours” Jerome K. Jerome

“Personally, I have nothing against work, particularly when performed, quietly and unobtrusively, by someone else” Barbara Ehrenreich

Homage to Leonard Nimoy AKA Mr Spock

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-02-23

For today’s quote of the week, I have chosen something a bit more serious… What? Moi? Serious? Yes, yes, I know it is odd, but I do have a serious side too 😉

But seriously, life is short, live it to the fullest! Enjoy the moments and the littlest things!
Here is a quote by one of my most favourite people in the world (and heaven), Leonard Nimoy:

“A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP” Leonard Nimoy

‘To be or not to be, that is the question’ Hamlet

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-02-09

“To be, or not to be…” is the opening phrase of a soliloquy in the “Nunnery Scene” of William Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. In the speech, a despondent Prince Hamlet contemplates death and suicide.

On the lighter side of this quote, I have adapted it to the world of blogging.

Sometimes we, bloggers, hit a wall, yes that does actually happen more often than anyone realizes! During this period, while banging our heads against the wall, we are asking ourselves “Why are you blogging? Why are you blogging? Why are you blogging?”

Maybe it is the knock of the wall that makes us come to our senses, and at this time a proverbial lamp lights upon our collective heads. And it’s when we realize, the question is actually wrong!?

So why not consider this question instead:

“To blog or not to blog? That’s a trick question, isn’t it?”

And this response to the question is:

“We blog, therefore we are!”

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-02-02

People often ask me what kind of camera I use. I must confess, after being a pix snapper for forty years, I have come to the conclusion, that the camera does not make the shot, I do. I used to drag all sorts of equipment with me even on travels, but since the advent of the digital format, I prefer to carry the smallest one with me, or just the mobile phone.

Of course there are advantages to SLR and various lens options, but then again, I rarely get the opportunity to just spend my time pic snapping anymore and when the opportunity for a great shot arises, I don’t care what camera I have with me, as long as I get the shot.

There are those who disagree with me and I agree not all of the snaps turn out as I imagined, but for me personally, the idea is more important than technical perfection. An image can be perfect in all ways, but still have no content. Even an out of focus image with a great vision, can be perfect. And in the end, if you yourself like it, then it is great!

Meanwhile, I think we can all agree on Chase Jarvis’ quote:

“The best camera is the one you have with you” Chase Jarvis

“Writers aren’t exactly people… They’re a whole bunch of people trying to be one person” F Scott Fitzgerald

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-01-12

We all have a little writer in us wanting to break free.

For this week’s quote, I have chosen a quote fitting for all us calling ourselves writers. Despite the fact we enjoy what we do and would not change it for the world. Still, sometimes we hit a block for one reason or another and then, we secretly wish to have some magic means to complete our stories.

“All writers have this vague hope that the elves will come in the night and finish any stories” Neil Gaiman

“Behind every successful woman is a fabulous pair of shoes”

Quote a Week Tuesday, 2016-01-06

For today’s quote, I chose from a topic very near and dear to me. What is it?
Yes, you guessed it; Shoes! But seriously, this is one topic I do not take very lightly 😉

A woman can never have too many pairs of shoes!

The inspiration for this post actually came to me from the Albert and Victoria Museum exhibit of “12 Days of Shoes“, currently running in the museum. If you are in London,
you may want to check it out.

Meanwhile;
