Sunday, One

Posted in Daily Photo

“Sunday evenings often feel like the weekend is over before it’s even begun”
Catherine McCormack

Sunday

The candles are lit
Softest of light they do emit
Inviting to sit
At least for a bit
Lazy day, admitting it
So now, nothing to do
But maybe knit
Before Monday morning
When it’s time to split

Coffee, by any other name (BEST OF 2016)

Posted in BEST OF 2016

“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes

Coffee, by any other name

“What’s in a name?
That which we call, coffee,
By any other name,
Would smell as sweet;”

The sweetest of aroma,
From every cafe in Roma
Bringing you to your knees,
When on a walkabout, in Paris

A cup of Java
A cup of Joe
Darker than molten lava
Just let the liquid flow!

Because,
Coffee, by any other name…

Well, it’s all coffee,
Really,
And all coffee
Is good,
Just
Drink,
Enjoy,
And be merry
And sooner than later
Have another cup
Then some more,
Maybe one more,
For the road,
To get off the load,
Take away,
Now you’re talking,
Just keep on walking
Another cafe
Is bound to
Come along!

“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way,
creating more unintended consequences,
and failing to achieve anything useful”
Margaret J. Wheatley

Daily Reflections

Time flying by
Without commotion
Life flying by
Like inflicted emotions

Daily reflections
Today’s expectations?
All now neglected
By the calm of the ocean

December, 1st

Posted in Daily Photo: Photography and Poetry

“December’s wintery breath is already clouding the pond,
frosting the pane, obscuring summer’s memory…”
John Geddes

December, 1st

December the first
Came with a burst
A sunrise most gorgeous
It’s almost flirtatious

Come what may
December made its way
Holiday season upon us
With sunshine in abundance

“In the depth of winter
I finally learned
that there was in me
an invincible summer.”
Albert Camus

Snow and A Day

day-5

Oh look,
At the pretty sunrise
Reflecting on the ice
Maybe,
That is worth a smile?
Oh winter,
Thou art a heartless bitch

Snow and A Day

day-1

Cursing, my retched life
The never ending strife
Of shovelling snow
In minus degrees below
Oh winter,
Thou art a heartless bitch

Snow and A Day

day-3

I wish I was rich
Living on a faraway island
Then I’d be smiling
Maybe, for a while
Oh winter,
Thou art a heartless bitch

“Welcome, to the dark side
We can provide fun too
But these spots far and few
Reserved only for two…”

“Yeah, well, if you have coffee too, then count me in!”
