“A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere” Groucho Marx

The Black Cat

When the black cat
Was crossing the street
She was chasing a rat
Trying to act discreet
Hiding behind a big hat
Awaiting her treat

The grounded bat
Knew he tasted sweet
Stood still on the mat
There was no time to greet
Only time, for combat

After a long while
Both standing still
Trying to act hostile
But without thrill
So instead of the usual
They decided in mutual

This tale’s end
Will the norm bend
Cat and mouse decided
To shake their paws delighted
The lesson of this tale?
Sometimes it’s good to fail

Winter 11

“Now is the winter of our discontent” Richard III, William Shakespeare

Nightfall

Soft white lights
In the middle of the night
All have taken flight
From the silent street
Not even a tweet
From the lonely parakeet

After all,
It’s no ball
In the middle of
Winter

“Now is the winter of our discontent” Richard III, William Shakespeare

Red

What a blast
The contrast
Not unabashed
As it flashed
Its red colour
All over

Blurred Bines

With a snow cover
On the top they hover
Not quite the clover
Still always on the upper
They say it’s a hopper

They call them the blurred bines
Yeah yeah yeah!

Bending not breaking

Swaying back and forth
Somewhere up north
In a forsaken part of earth
Where mother nature gave them birth

“I was once living very actively – playing football, tennis, participating into car races. Sometimes I would play poker and pool. But later somebody stole my PC and that was it”

OMG: The Internet Just Crashed!

That moment you dreaded
Has unexpectedly arrived
The internet just died
Your life shredded
Panicking, freaking out!
Wondering, what the hell is this about?
You don’t have any clue
Of what you need to do
Retreating to a corner
Your life suddenly out of order
Sitting, sobbing, slowly rocking
Your whole body shaking
Cold sweat on your skin
What to do, where to begin?
Utterly and hopelessly lost
Oh, what a cost
For what you have lost
Is that precious connection
Your whole life’s projection
On the world wide web

“Just an FYI: Thursday the 12th is just as rare at Friday the 13th.”

Throwback Thursday 2016-02-25

Each Thursday we walk down memory lane and dig deeply into the archives of Rantings Of A Third Kind. For these posts, I have chosen some of my personal favourites. Some of them may tickle the funny bone, some even provoke thoughts and some of them will give you a view of the world in photographs taken by yours truly.

Just Try It!

Being online
Sitting in the front line
Twenty four seven
Calling it heaven
Made it your tantra
Repeating that mantra
An existence with a twist
If you’re not on Google
You don’t exist

At your disposal
Hear out this proposal

Turn off the computer and phone
Don’t worry about being left alone
Forget the social media hype
For a while at least
Tame that beast
There is this thing called, life
Out there, somewhere
Lurking about
Just try it out!
You might actually find it
Better than expected
Feeling reconnected
And maybe even accept it
