Day One: Part One: Introduction to the destination
Gun’s travel log, stardate 08.08.2015: 00.00 EET (GMT +3)
Today we started our journey to Greece, namely the beautiful resort of Rhodes island.
Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and structural remnants of its crusades-era occupation by the Knights of St. John. Rhodes City features the medieval Street of the Knights and the castle like Palace of the Grand Masters, once a Turkish prison and now a museum. The city’s bars, clubs and cafes bustle during high season.

“I see that it is by no means useless to travel, if a man wants to see something new” Jules Verne
Around the World in Black and White, Second Edition
In the rain forest of Brazil
You can feel the thrill
Sailing down the river Negro
Quite the incognito
Catch a glimpse of the dolphins
Can rise the endorphins
Planning on staying a while
On the beautiful isle
That of Cyprus
Home to many a cypress
The surrounding seas of turquoise
Swimming around like the tortoise
Enjoying the island life
Dancing to a flute or a fife
Whether a history buff
Or a hang loose beach bum
Rhodes is the place enough
To make you wanna hum

Around the World in Black and White, First Edition
On the busy streets of London
There is no time for boredom
While roaming the ancient ruins for Greece
Breathe and let the moment freeze
Sailing the gorgeous lakes in Italy
Watching the clouds filling the sky to affinity
Sightseeing, travelling or shopping
There is no time for stopping
Around the wide wide world
Me and my camera are hurled

“In the bible it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. They called it disaster. In Finland we call it summer!”
Picnic in July, Finnish style
Going on a picnic
Come snow, hail or shine
After all, it is still July
Hoping not to get sick
Sitting on the beach
Shivering with cold
The warmth at arms reach
It’s summer I was told
Not time for mission abort
Should not have worn shorts
The rain soon falls
Drops like thick walls
Clothes getting wetter
Running to shelter
Looking for a hide
Getting inside
Cold and wet
And unfed
Cursing and swearing
Of this life unfairing
Looking outside again
Hoping no more rain
What the f…k?
The sun is back up!

“A cloudless plain blue sky is like a flowerless garden” Terri Guillemet
Fire in the Sky
When the clock struck seven
High up in the heavens
The white, blue and yellow
Happily mixed together
Looking up at the skies
The vision burning my eyes
Painted in the colour red
Like the Almighty had bled
The horizon in full flame
Watching the complete frame
The sky was on fire

“Things are not quite so simple always as black and white” Doris Lessing
Life in the Monochrome
I am neither black or white
I am just a gray delight
Maybe not so much fun
Being only a colour of one
That of a monotone
But not a clone
You may call me,
Monochrome

“There’s a bright spot in every dark cloud” Bruce Beresford
Clouds, clouds, clouds
Dark and dreary
Nothing too weary
Or bright with light
Clouds filling the skies
Rain and thunder
Sunshine through the blunder
With a promise of a rainbow
Let’s watch the show!
