“The road to hell is paved with works-in-progress” Philip Roth

The Four Stages

My mind racing
A mile a minute
Restless pacing
Time not infinite

Head filled
With many stories
Not too thrilled
Of those inventories

Work in progress
Rather than in press
Not an offense
Just a defence

The stages of writing
Clear in my head
Would rather be
Or staying in bed

I hate it, I love it
I am up, I am down
I am all around
Unable to commit

Now needed
Some simple planning
Write until depleted
Then only be fanning
When a task is completed

“Writing about a writer’s block is better than not writing at all” Charles Bukowski

Block, What Block?

Deadline approaches
Shoving off the roaches
Clearing the table
Computer enabled

Typing, typing, typing

Trickles of sweat
On my forehead
Writing some more
Oh what a bore

Writing, writing, writing

Reading out loud
Feeling kind of proud
Even without a crowd
Sitting on a cloud

I love it
I feel uplifted
Its pure golden
Feeling bolden

Continuing my writing

Reading back
I feel the lack
Lost the right track
I am a quack

I hate it
It’s utter shit
My writing sucks
What the fuck

Almost quitting
Seems fitting
Maybe try knitting
Before I am splitting

Delete, delete, delete

Giving it a third try
Even though feeling dry
No pain no gain
I need a new aim

Writing, writing, writing

Finally done
Hesitation all gone
Task completed
Feeling depleted

Reading, reading, reading

Not half bad
Finally feeling glad
Afraid of changing my mind again
I hit send

“Last Wednesday, I stupidly dropped my iPhone in the bath, and my life has sort of spiraled almost out of control” Patrick Stewart

My Precious

The utter horror
Oh the sorrow
For no where
My precious one
Can be found

Why me?
Why now?

I keep on looking
Searching, longing
Turning every stone
With my fingers to the bone

Oh wherefore art thou
My sacred cow?

Suddenly in the distance
I hear a familiar sound
I am utterly astound
And without resistance

Dare I hope and glee
To be united with thee?

My heart skipping a beat
Feeling the heat
I have found it
My precious fit

I am back in the zone
Cradling you gently
My one and only
Iphone

SHAKESPEARE

“The empty vessel makes the loudest sound” William Shakespeare

Quote a Week Tuesday: 2016-03-14

I have often been teased about my totally “empty desk” at work and when this quote caught my eye today, I could not help laughing out loud, and for quite a while I might add 😉 Well, if the shoe fits…

“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”    Albert Einstein

Towards the Modern (in the 80s)

A little while later
Modern call centers
Led us to an adventure
In a very wide scope
All across the globe
World wide hope
In keeping us connected

Victorian Times

After stone knives and bearskins
The science started to spin
Something called the telephone
And no less, but in a cramped booth
Enabled us to phone home
Life beginning to be very smooth
Keeping us connected

In the Olden Days

In the good old days
We used the other way
For those far away
Keeping connected

No matter rain, hail or snow
The postman like a pro
With his heavy bag in tow
Kept us connected
