One Day in December for Freaky Friday

frosting the pane, obscuring summer’s memory…”
― John Geddes

One Day in December

one-day-1

The early morning light in the eastern horizon, in the colour of brightest red and powerful, like a wild fire, gave the villagers quite the scare. It had been a long dark period after the colours of fall had faded, but they had expected the dark times to last at least several moons over, before the light bringer would once again light the fires up in the North, indicating start of spring.

Gathering into the village centre, whole families and their pets, standing there, staring in awe at the fiery sky. No sound was heard, apart from the roars of the winds in the near forest. Then, the eerie silence was broken. A bang on the ground of a heavy object being dropped followed a squeaky voice:

“Ragnarök!” she shouted pointing at the sky.

The other turned at her, looking and wondering what the village oldest woman was on about.

“The war is coming!” she kept looking at the skies.

“War?” someone from the crowd dared asking.

The old woman nodded and kept looking at the skies, “Yes, the war”, she simply stated. Then sighing, she looked back at the village, who had their eyes turned to the old woman, clearly gone mad or delusional.

“What war is that?” a man questioned her.

The old woman stood silent for a moment before she responded.

“The war of the ages, the war between good and evil” she whispered under her breath and then turned towards the others, “Armageddon!” she half shouted.

“Surely, you are mistaken?” the man continued and hesitated for a moment, “Maybe we have miscalculated the passing of time and the springtime is upon us?” He turned toward the others nodding as if getting the others to go along with his assessment.

But, the others were looking worried and starting to realize, what the woman was trying to say. That the old fairy tales, passed on as folklore. Bedtime stories told by parents to scare the children to do their bidding, may now have become true.

“Ragnarök”, the old woman just stated silently and once again turned her face towards the reddening skies.

Finding a Safe Harbour

Sailing, at sea
Is the place to be
But when the storm rises
You may end up in crisis
Unless, a safe harbour in time
You are lucky, to find

Blue on Blue

“Nothing but blue skies,
From now on”

Was the message of the song
Nope, you did not hear me wrong
Just stay strong
Summer and blue skies,
Will soon come along

The Glow

“Peek-a-boo
I see you!”

Said,
The little ray of sun
As she came down
For some fun

“Are you looking for someone?”

Asked,
The palm
But remained calm
Despite the touch of sun
Feeling like balm

The ray of sun smiled
And replied,

“I’m here to play
But cannot too long stay
If there is one thing I have learnt
Things do get burnt
If I remain too long
Because no one
Is that strong”

“That’s cool,
And I’m no fool
I went to school!
And, if it gets too hot
I can dip in the pool”

The palm responded
And before too long
The two, had bonded

Something strange?
Something scary?

I Laugh, There For I Am (TBT)

“Laughter is the best revenge for anger” Dalai Lama

I Laugh, There For I Am

Call me crazy
Call me a fool
Or just a simple tool
Laughing, grinning
Face in full leering
Feelings of winning
Life gave you lemons
Or battling with demons
Trying not to worry
Or even feel sorry
For things that cannot change
Rather arrange
Time for a full belly laugh
Several times a day
It isn’t daft
Keeps your mind clear
Throughout the year
When you wake up
Forget the wile
Put on that smile
It is the best make up
Everyone can wear
Which will not tear
Come rain or shine
All will be fine

What Ever! (TBT)

Posted in the Throwback Thursday

“Screw you guys, I’m going home!” Eric Cartman

What Ever!

You were smiling
Feeling charming
And quite beguiling
The sun was shining
This was supposed to be
A great day
For a song or a play

But then it turned out to be
Something else completely
It turned out to be
One of *those days*
Struck you in the face
Run over like a ten ton truck
And disappear without a trace

What the fuck?
Feeling like a schmuck
Completely out of luck
Standing in the rain
Without an umbrella
Almost going insane
And not from singing a cappella

So I say “What ever!”
And take my leave

I need a Different Tune to Sing to (TBT)

Posted in the Throwback Thursday

“Do more, complain less”

I need a Different Tune to Sing to

Repeat this mantra and you’ll soon believe it
Turning into a complete little shit
“My head is empty, my head is empty, my head is empty,
completely and abso-freaking-lutely empty”

Not one sensible thought passing through
The mind no longer sharp and clever
The neurons and positrons or what ever
Have turned into some kind of inert goo

Head spinning around like being possessed
Just like Linda Blair in the Exorcist
The thought pattern repeating those same old tunes
Feels like running on mere fumes

Stuck and totally out of luck
Like a sitting duck awaiting the slayer
Or a broken needle on a record player
Not adding any new layers

Complaining more and nothing gets done
Seems the mojo is lost and so is all the fun
It is time to change the needle or the record
Even if it takes a lot of effort

Repeating this mantra and soon you will believe
The best proven remedy to achieve
Is to do more and complain less
And in a new tune singing your way out of this mess
