All the Shade!

“When in doubt, put on some shades and you are hidden away from prying eyes and the sun and that is no pun!“ Gun Roswell

When the sun shines to hot and bright, it is time, to make a move to the right, or left, depending on where you can find, the right kind of shade, for cooling off and taking a break, from that warm globe high up in the skies, which might have made you smile before you realised it was pretty hot out there, with all kinds of flares, because you ventured out there on your first day on a dare.

Sitting or lying down, it is all just fine as long as there is no frown shown on your face, as it might there permanently stay, if you gotten yourself burnt by the rays so hot and sizzling, it got you all bothered and dizzy, but all is well now, in the cool shade. And no need to hurry away, simply stay, as long as you need or even for the rest of the day, you can in this safe haven of sorts lay.

All kinds of shade is what you can find, when the sun and maybe the rest of the worshipers of the golden globe up there, gets too much even if it was fun to share, the beach so warm, the sand getting that was getting everywhere, but hey, this is part of the deal, of enjoying the so called summer activities, and not being the odd person out, even if you needed to shout because it was simply too hot and too much out there, in the sun, before you decided to run and come to the dark side, out of the light, in the cooling calming shade.

Seated under the shade

“Just because, it’s a seat, right?!” Gun Roswell

1

A stroll in the heat, of the hottest of summers
Looking, searching, for that perfect place, to stay in and recover
All kinds of taverns and restaurants, all of them me beckoning
A soothing tall and cold drink, for this utter thirst to be lessening

But alas, there is only one place, right ahead
The one, in the nicest, of cooling shades
And there it is, where I will, so totally spend
The rest of this hot of days. until the very end

Under the Tall Palm Tree

“There is plenty to do, in the shade on a warm day, sitting under the cooling tree, sipping, on some ice tea.” Gun Roswell

Under the palm tree
Down by the sea
My sweetheart and I
Are…
Enjoying some tea

Three times the seat under the shade

“Sometimes, when it’s really hot, the sun is shining above, it’s good to find a place to relax for a moment, preferably in the shade with a very cool drink” Gun Roswell

The summer holidays, had finally arrived
Shouted out, was a big hoot with some jives
Packing up, all the needed trash
For this, unplanned, quick getaway, in a flash

So now, headed for what ever kind of port
Was ready to accept us, to start this trip of a notice short
Because this thing was certainly going to happen
With or without all that likely crappin’

OK, so after all kinds of back and forth ‘xplaining
The road trip was finally on the part of landing
The island of ones dreams dead ahead in perfect still
Well, as much seen from a small cockpit window sill

Off and out and into the taxi cab with a shout
Soon enough the accommodation in sight with sign shouting loud
“B and B” for all sizes and kinds
Just come on inside and your place find”

After the slightly drama, when doing all of the unpack
It was finally time, to get up and go out and yes, slack
After all, this was supposed to be. a holiday to the letter so strong
With rest, relaxation, something something and all that jazz all day long

When getting outside, the warm wall hits you in the face
It feels so good, after so many months of living inside the icescapades
In the land way, way up north, where the only transport is a sleigh
Wanting nothing more than to get out of that place

But, the reality soon hit, right smack in that pale face
And the sweat pouring, nay, soaring out each and every pour started
After some moments, when soaked through each and every garment
It was time to get the hell out of the sun and find some shade

Glancing, glaring, staring, all around the heads spinning
Trying to find that one perfect spot, where to sit down on the dot
It was already starting to get really frustrating
The face, neck and body, covered with sweating

But then, in the corner fo the very eye, which had so much spied
Behind the vail of frustration, even if this was supposed to be the best vacation
A spot in a small cafe, there, in the shades, hidden from the sun
All that remained to do, was to gather some courage and toward it to run

The setup like from a picture perfect
A table with two seats and a large bench set
Just for us weary touristy types way over their heads
Boy, am I glad this day us here finally had lead!

Seated happily for the rest of the day
Deciding to spend it in this very same place
Ordering food and drinks was so easy as cake
Why the hell would anyone do anything else

The seat in the shade

“Take a load off, when ever you can, just mind the place, it really should be in the shade” Gun Roswell

The midday, right in the middle, of the month of May
It might even be June or July, alas, the month is not the why
But rather, the shining of the sun and the glaring of the sea
And where, in the scorching heat, is safest to flee
Is it diving, into the water or maybe hiding, under a tree?
Or take cover in the cooling air-conditioned shop you see?
But what if you need to buy something
Even a the smallest thing, but forgot to bring
Your purse or any kind of method of payment?
Then no, you cannot enter the establishment
Because the option of loitering means banishment

Then, out there, in the far corner of the eye
There is something so familiar, your eyes spy
The contours of some kind of a furniture
No!, Could it? Is it? And right there, in the shade?
No, it simply cannot be true, what I see
A bench, a solemn respite, in the shadows, under a tree
I run as humanly possible in this heat
And as I reach it, i can clearly see it
Yes, it is the one simple saviour I have search
In this hour of afternoon sweat and cursed
But now, I simply forget it everything else
As I slump down on this heavenly seat
And boy, am I beat! I think, I might get some sleep!

Island life under the shade

“Sometimes, one simply needs a break from it all.” Gun Roswell

Island life under the shade

A small Island, perhaps Greece?
A small piece
Of our very own history
Beyond the centuries
The oldest of towns
Considered the jewel of the crown
Alas the soft sunny beach
At your very reach
Ixia, Kamiros or Lindos
A small drive with the bus
Everything you’ll ever need
On the small island of eternal peace

Umbrella

“Come under my umbrella” Gun Roswell

Umbrella

Under the umbrella of mine
Life is good and feeling is fine
There is nothing so divine
When beside you to be lying

Under the umbrella of mine
Feeling safe and sound
From the world around
Nothing sad to be found

Under the umbrella of mine
We are living a life sublime
We have nothing but time
And faces filled with smiles

Under the umbrella of mine
Future is still uncertain
But together we are determine
Never to each other be hurting

A Cozy Seat for a Sunny Sunday

“Seated in the cooling shade, on a sunny Sunday” Gun Roswell

A Cozy Seat for a Sunny Sunday

The times are changing, and the social distancing, is causing some hassle for those long and leisurely Sunday brunches, because taking unnecessary chances, is not in the cards on this day.

Alas, there are still some places, where the times have no effects on, those special and hidden corners of the undiscovered taverns remaining, where with care, someone might even dare, to make a reservation as there is always a room without hesitation and the continuing with a tradition as long as time itself, while having a happy reunion meal in the nook of a restaurant on this sunny Sunday afternoon in a most cozy and comfortable seat. And that is beating the odds and not admitting to defeat, no matter the times or the restricting forces out there while remaining in this retreat for a short while at least. And that in itself is just neat.

Throw some shade this way too!

Greece

“The shade of it all, no matter where you stroll, there is always someone throwing it upon, some of us anyway, giving it freely away, just for the heck of it, even if you did not ask for it” Gun Roswell

Throw some shade this way too!

The ever constant thing, even under the scorching sun is this; there will always be a place to find, where throwing some shade will be fine, and that is not just the simple and comforting cover from the burning rays of the daylight we all so like to embrace, not the safety under the parasol kind of a space, but rather, the those ones who will want to harm, anyone really without the charm, with words too harsh to even comprehend, the why’s behind them, unknown will remain.

Open the shades, only when the sun to rest lays

“There shade, the sun, the clouds, the open skies, it’s all just one big illusion in one’s eyes” Gun Roswell

Open the shades, only when the sun to rest lays

The shade of it all!

Yes, just because the sun decided to stand oh so very tall!

And so, finding cover, of any kind was the one thing on everyone’s mind

The windows, the very homes, shutting down all doors, not a sprinkle of it getting inside

Just because someone thought that was the decision made ever so wise

No more peeking into the sun, even if it before was sun

No more glaring into the light, shining ever so bright

Because, someone said, it was not smart

And so, shade for all, was the option with with to go
